Because I don’t think misdemeanor should result in surrendering his gun?

NOPD takes a gun off the streets where it shouldn’t have been to begin with, and Nabors is free to go with a lesson learned and some inconvenience.
And he can go buy another gun. Lesson learned. People are wanting to make this into more than it is. A misdemeanor charge that was dropped.

Unsure of how the situation started but seems like a shitty move on NOPD part,
Gun laws should be waived if you are an lsu football player

You're right. Someone driving without a license is actually operating the vehicle. He merely existed alongside the gun.
That’s because they are 2 completely different laws. He didn’t just exist alongside the gun, he was carrying it illegally.
Since you want to make dumb comparisons. When teenagers get caught drinking alcohol in public, do you think it’s ridiculous that the police make them pour their drinks out?

Looks like Gordon got it done

Take that up with him and his lawyer.

I gave up my conceal permit years ago. Much easier than trying to do it the right way.

We all know the “deal” was framed in a way that if he didn’t take it, it would basically ruin his life.
He was an idiot and put himself in the position to be at the mercy of the retards in the NOLA criminal justice system. He has more to lose than 99% of the people that were arrested for the same thing, he needs to understand that.
I simply think he shouldn’t have lost his gun because of it.

Clearly he does understand that which is why he took the deal.

Or maybe it would be a way bigger pain in the arse and a waste of time and money having to deal with court dates and shite over a misdemeanor when he can just give up his gun and go about his life, and go buy another gun right now.

The sports media will bring this garbage up every time he takes the field for the Tigers. You'd have to be a fool to go to NOLA right now without carrying.

Either way it’s leverage used to take his gun, which I disagree with.
He did it to himself. But given the amount of shite people get away with in NOLA, this seems pretty shitty.
Let the city fester into an environment where people feel compelled to carry a weapon just to leave the house and then round them up and lean on them to take their guns.

All idiots who chose to bring a weapon to a place where it is illegal were given the same treatment.
gonna need a source on that

If it were me, and all I had to do was let the state/police keep the gun, I'm taking that every time. It's not worth the fight.

That's fricking ridiculous.
They don't take cars away from people when they drive without a license. And cars kill more people than guns.
Arrests get "no billed" all the time.
Means it was likely an extremely sketchy arrest.

Gun deaths are around 31k a year, and cars are around 35-40k a year.
Only in America.
True but about half of those gun deaths are suicide. Regardless there's still a ton of gun violence here.

The Louisiana gun laws make it very easy to carry just about anywhere.
The majority of the people illegally carrying are criminals. This is why they are targeted.

So they stole his gun.
I'm glad the charges were dropped. It's a second amendment win.
