Not handguns that you cannot legally own at 19 lol.

No one is going to jail anymore for just possessing a handgun unless it’s been used in a murder or something or the person possessing it is a felon.

Police are just confiscating the guns now, it’s been like that a couple years for sure.

I thought a 19 year old in Louisiana could own a handgun. The state law minimum age to possess a handgun is 18. Federal law says you can't buy a handgun from a licensed dealer until you're 21, but that wouldn't apply to unlicensed dealers like at gun shows.

Why? He still would have gotten picked up. It's illegal to have a firearm in the quarter or parade route no matter if you have a concealed carry or not.

he was carrying it illegally.

which is bullshite anyway. nowhere in the second amendment does it say "the right to bear arms if you have a permit or are displaying it properly"

plus the LA senate already passed a law to allow concealed carry without a permit. did JBE veto it? LINK

Gun deaths were 45,222 in 2020. Car related deaths were 38,824. Most gun deaths (over half) were by suicide. Gun number only includes deaths where gunshot was listed as sole cause, whatever that means.

Yes, that bill was vetoed, but it wouldn't have made a difference here. That bill only applied to people over the age of 21 and its still illegal to carry at a parade.

You do understand that parents can legally purchase a handgun for their child, right?

This is directly from the ATF:
quote:

May a parent or guardian purchase firearms or ammunition as a gift for a juvenile (less than 18 years of age)?
Yes. However, persons less than 18 years of age may only receive and possess handguns with the written permission of a parent or guardian for limited purposes, e.g., employment, ranching, farming, target practice or hunting.

So, you can do so with UNDER 18, with limited purposes. At 18, those limits are no longer in effect.

Really bizarre

Never seen anything like this

I hope it doesn’t become some sort of pattern

I've seen nothing that indicates he was brandishing, or anything like that. Not sure how they caught him, maybe he was printing...

but it's more indicative of a bigger problem, and not an LSU one.

He's a normal guy, and felt the need to carry when in Nola. There's a lot of people here who would agree with that sentiment. People got shot at Bacchus.

They really need to clean that city up

Which amendment is right to drive again?

I understand he did something illegal but most gun laws are bs. This is a win. He was carrying. Not brandishing or threatening. 2A win
