Back in the day, before concealed carry permits were a thing, a patron at a local festival was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. At his scheduled court hearing, the judge asked the arresting police officer how did he know the accused was carrying a concealed weapon. The police officer replied that he saw the outline of the pistol in his back pocket and from that could tell the accused had a pistol in his back pocket. Judge ruled that since the police officer could tell that the accused was carrying a pistol then the pistol was not concealed. Charges dropped, case dismissed. True story.

Just get a license to carry then. He wouldn’t be in this position if he had.
Malik can’t get a concealed carry. He’s only 19. And he can’t purchase another pistol because once again he is 19.

So the truth of the situation is that he got the charges dropped for agreeing to hand over someone else’s pistol.

I suspect there were dozens of young men his age getting arrested for the same thing.

157 guns collected over Mardi Gras. Don't know the ages or genders of the gun owners.

So he broke the law. He’s fortunate the charges were dropped. That’s the truth of the situation
It’s not complicated

The jails are not big enough to hold all the people carrying in NOLA. Why pick on this kid.

With all the crime issues, shootings, etc. Nola has been struggling with, you now want cops to ignore when people break the gun laws in the city? You can't conceal carry in Louisiana until you're 21 and you can't carry at parades.

Because the other faceless 19yr old doing the same thing is what you would call a thug. How to do differentiate?

Don’t worry, they’ll still call him a thug once he tries to leave as a junior or says something slightly liberal.

Smart move to carry in NOLA. Pat him on the back and give him a high five for being smart and protecting himself. Pay to enroll him in a concealed carry course as a reward.

Can't legally own or carry a pistol until 21 years of age in the US

I am willing to bet when the arrest report is released there will probably be an issue with the reasonable suspicion/probable cause the cop had to search.

157 guns confiscated during Mardi Gras must have been after Bacchus, and the “true story “ about concealed weapon happened to an old black lady friend who owned 6 handguns ( in the 70s in New Orleans) Punks kept throwing fireworks on her porch to mess with her so after telling them for a few days to stop but they didn’t,so she went out front and when she was at the front door they chunked some more and she shot the gun in the air ( .22 ) So the little dicks called the police and told them she shot at them ( lie) anyway she had those guns in her Will for me but her lawyer (my uncle) got her off but she had to give them her guns ! Seems very strange to confiscate all weapons but she was an honest woman and told them she had 6 guns but needed them for protection. Didn’t matter, I guess she should have used a criminal lawyer instead of civil lawyer but he was free and she didn’t have much money. Anyway I hope Nabors learned something about guns
