He’s gone. It makes all of you look that much more like the pussies you are to keep crying over something you’ll never get. Weak fricking individuals.

LSU fans are something. Get a football coach with a high success rate and some want to fire him bc he loses the first game of the season.
Basketball fans clamor for a guy who has not won a championship yet think he is the next Coach K. It is funny to see.

You care about basketball more than you claimed last night it appears

Actually I don't. I just find it funny that so many damn posts about a former coach. Like he was a lover to so many and they all miss his "juice" on them. I hope he never is hired and I keep seeing more posts and continue to laugh. If you ever see me post in an actual basketball game thread, then I'll care. I don't and I won't post in it.

Any real LSU basketball fan loved him. He loved winning and did what it took to make ot happen. Did he ever even get any NCAA punishment?

Is it that confusing for you to understand the basketball program has different expectations, resources, and support compared to LSU football?
I mean holy shite dude does someone need to explain to you lmao

Should’ve told them to frick off. He was pulling recruits from the blue bloods and disrupting the order of things.
Oh, that was the reason? Well we definitely should not hire him back, because if he pulled recruits from the bluebloods they’d come after us again. That’s why Auburn can’t get anything going.

Auburn only has 2 top 100 recruits on their roster and just had a couple coaches do jail time for paying players and committing wire fraud.

I did not know that. That is impressive.

It is, Pearl is great at finding under the radar talent. Golden at Florida is good at it too, they don’t have a single top 100 recruit on the roster but are 14-1. Some very good coaches in the SEC right now

Unless SW can convince Billy Donavan to come back to college , I’d say frick it and bring Wade back if he was interested .
No big name is coming to coach hoops at LSU so why not bring back someone who has proven he can win consistently at LSU?
Does SW want to take a chance on another McMahon who may or not pan out?

Our current coach is doing less with more resources. The previous coach is doing more with less resources.
LSU is 68 in NET and 69 in KenPom.
McNeese is 63 in NET and 67 in KenPom.
This is totally unacceptable. LSU should always have the best basketball team in Louisiana.
I'm waiting to hear more excuses from the McMahon and Woodward apologists. I'll start: It's Wade's fault. McMahon just needs more time. We have a great recruiting class coming next year. McMahon is so nice. McMahon is a great X and O coach. McMahon is great at player development. McMahon has injury issues that no other coach has to deal with on their team. Players decided to opt out and it is not McMahon's fault. There is so much turnover in players, and if it were not so then McMahon would be great.
I'm sure that I am forgetting some excuses.
Oh wait, I guess that I should not be talking about another team on an LSU board.
I just want a team that makes the tournament every year. The current coach is not the answer. A true LSU fan must see this even through the purple and gold glasses.

Obviously no LSU fan is happy with the program right now. Some just believe he needs a little more time. Others believe he has shown enough.
In most cases, new coaches will get 3-4 years at a new job to show where the program is headed. Given the state of things when McMahon was hired, I certainly don't think 4 years is unreasonable. If we go something like 4-14 in the SEC this year though, I could also see him getting fired at the end of the year. Either way, he will finish out this season regardless. That's pretty much guaranteed.

The “more time” narrative is simply outdated. Especially with how much posters on this site bitch about NIL and the portal. You can and usually will construct a new roster every season. CoachMc has actually recruited well, better than half of the other SEC teams. The issue is coaching.
If we go 2-16, 9-9, 2-16 in the SEC, what in the world would he have demonstrated to instill confidence in his future tenure?

I know this can be a bit difficult for some on the board, but it's almost as if context matters in these discussions. Since evidently you aren't aware of that context, I will provide you with it.
For the last 20+ years LSU has been one of the top programs in college football. Winning 3 championships and playing for another. Thus, the bar for success and expectation level for success in football program is higher...because they have reached the top of the sport, multiple times.
In contrast, the basketball has been, at best, wildly inconsistent for the last 30 years...over the course of multiple coaching tenures. A program that was just as apt to finish last in the SEC as it was to win it. A program where NCAA Tournament appearances were the exception, not the rule. A program that from 1994 - 2020 had only reached the NCAA Tournament in consecutive years ONE time in that 26 year period.
Then LSU hired a young coach who in his first season led the program to 6 game turnaround in the SEC. Going from 2-16 the year prior to 8-10. In his second season he won the SEC with the best conference performance an LSU team had in nearly 40 years, culminating the highest seed in the NCAA Tournament the program had in that same time frame. His program would have made the NCAAT again in 2020 but for it being cancelled. The team then made the NCAAT in 2021 and 2022. The latter being his "worst" season in 4 years...yet still ending in a tournament berth as a #6 seed. He was winning at the most consistent level any basketball coach had at LSU since the early 1990's with ZERO evidence to suggest that was going to stop.
THAT is why he was/is beloved by many LSU basketball fans. He had the program at a level of sustained success the program had not seen since Shaq (who is nearly 53 years old now) was in college. That love has remained as LSU fans had to watch that coach lead his current program, just a few hours away from LSU's campus, to matching the largest single season turnaround in NCAA history is his first year at the school while back on LSU's campus the few thousand fans who are still showing up to the PMAC are watching the current coach lead LSU to what could be the bottom of the SEC for the second time in three years...with little reason to think that will improve much in future years.

That's ok. You don't have to read it. No skin off my back. I understand completely. My children don't like when I explain to them why their opinions are illogical either.
