Overblown takes such as the OP get blown out of the water.
McMahon is not up to the job in recruiting, team construction, development, motivation, offensive design and implementation, emphasizing defensive rebounding, and many other facets needed to field a team that can compete well in a power conference. Mid major McMahon needs to go back where he belongs and had some success.

I feel that he may be the worst men's basketball coach that I can remember at LSU. Even Johnny Jones and Trent Johnson had a few good times during their tenures. I can't remember much if any excitement during the past 3 plus years.
Should have rehired Wade.

Thanks Woodward! Don't let the door hit you in that monstrous .....
Great. Woodward should not be anywhere close to hiring a football or men's basketball coach.

Woodward has messed up his last 2 football hires. He screwed up the men's basketball hire.

Mulkey was a no brainer.

I will give you Jay Johnson.

Woodward should be gone. Why would one keep an AD who can't be trusted in hiring the most important coach on campus?

I really don't care who he recruits. I just care that he is able to put a winning product on the court.

If he could have the success of the fired prior coach, I would be ecstatic.
Pelicans will have to be in a different city before they get a new arena.
So is anyone thinking the Pels will have Borrego as interim head coach by December 1st?

I wouldn't give any assets for Kessler unless he was on a very team friendly long term contract already. Too risky for a player like him.
Pels won't be in New Orleans in the 2030s. I have given up.
Zone should be set automatically like in the majors for the CWS.
Does anyone think Gayle will allow trading for the off the court issues in a player like Ja. I don't see Dumars wanting that either.
Tasmin played on 2 different Israeli league teams in the early to mid 2010s. He was an all star in the league in 2014.
Mid major McMahon(MMM instead of CMM)
Just win baby! The complaining has complete justification at this point. When the complaining occurs when we are good, then it becomes less justifiable.
Find another hobby if you dont like it. That's what I do when I have no xontrol over simething I don't like. Otherwise you are just hurting yourself.
We need a championship caliber coach, not a bottom dweller. That would be exciting. Whoever we have will underperform their potential with McMahon as coach.

The team results, pushing for NIL funding, picking the right balance of players, dealing with injuries, developing players, selecting lineups, coaching on the floor, displaying leadership on tge sideline, as well as dozens of other things are required by the head coach. So far, McMahon and his backers have given us the worst team in the SEC over the past 3 years. He has underperformed the recruiting and transfer portal rankings. I think this is more on him than poor rankings.

I hooe he does better this year, but there is nothing in his resume suggesting he is a championship caliber coach. I think that he will continue to produce poor to mediocre results even with more NIL funding. It is what it is.
This has to be the dumbest thread I have ever seen on this board.
No. I want a basketball team that makes the NCAA tournament every year. That is something we had recently. I don't want to settle for a somewhat good basketball team (whatever that means).

If you can make the tournament every year, you give yourself a chance at a big run.

When are we going to see some actual commitments to LSU from the portal? How many portal players is McMahon going to take?
One of the reasons that I won't be renewing my season tickets. The management of the Pelicans is near the bottom of the league.
McMahon is the problem. If he were forward thinking, he would have drummed up the money himself from donors in the past 3 years. I wonder if he is aggressive enough to know who the big donors are besides what he sees on Gordon billboards.

McMahon is in the bottom quintile of SEC coaches. He may be the worst. He will underperform his roster, no matter the quality of players. He will choose a mismatched group in desperation just as he has done previously.

We will have to suffer through 1 to 3 more years of his unenthusiastic and perplexed sideline personae before Woodward gives up on him. They will still blame Wade for a lost 4 to 7 years of LSU basketball. It is clear now that McMahon should be replaced, but fans will have to suffer on.
If you don't want to read about current or prior coaches, players, or anything else associated with the tigers, skip it. Complaining about it only perpetuates the thread, invites more commentary, and builds your post numbers.
Woodward has done agreat job with Kelly and McMahon. Only the coaches for the 2 big money makers.
Hell, McMahon feels he has 5 tears left on his contract to build a winning orogeam and develop a personality!

Anyone who says the source is plugged in is likely feeding the government or corporation or athletic administration propaganda. There is no evidence to trust that the complete truth of total expenditures on players that is public and nonpublic will ever be visible. Tales are spun to feed the narrative that is favorable to the teller.

The bottom line is McMahon is not cutting it. There is nothing convincing to say he shouldn't be fired immediately. He is being retained due to stubbornness, face saving, lack of funding to pay his buyout, and/or complete lack of urgency by LSU for men's basketball.
McMahon huggers blame everyone except the head coach. McMahon should have already been fired. That is the bottom line.

Texas makes the needed change and drastically improves the coach. LSU stays the same with a proven loser. Typical LSU basketball decision making.
Who wants to play fir McLoser?

He will have to pay a premium for players in a sport that donors and the administration don't care about. The best players will have no reason to come here for any reasonable amount of money.

Woodward is delaying the inevitable to save face. The two most money making sports are football and men's bb. Neither of his hires are doing the job expected, especially McMahon.

The class will be deemed all world before the season. Once sec play commences, excuses will come in force on how McMahon didn't have enough money, Wade hurt his feelings, too many injuries, the players aren't doing what the genius wants them to do,etc.
