Hands down or up in his case, Landon. That one made my body hurt because you knew how special he was and that it was going to open flood gates. Joe McKnight close second as it felt like the days of losing stud players to Miami and FSU days.

I rarely get angry when we lose guys. Normally just a little bummed, but Surtain had me angry for some reason. I guess because it was always assumed that he would come until the very last day when he picked Bama. Marvin Wilson as well but I guess that one didn’t burn as much because it wasn’t bama

Joe McKnight only because we grew up playing every sport with/against each other.. Second would be D.J. Augustine because we actually went to high school together so I assumed there was no way especially after Katrina he’d spurn LSU!

I don’t think that I’ve ever had a massive melt, but the Surtain saga pissed me off pretty bad. That whole thing was chickenshit

I totally agree on Surtain. I usually take it in stride because there are good coaches and good programs and the Tigers lose some but generally win more than their share. They end up top ten annually, top five some years.

But, I am convinced that Surtain got influenced by his father to go to BAMA and all of that "They win championships" was a cover. If he wanted to go there for that reason why didn't he commit from the beginning? Nothing changed on that front. He and Raymond were very tight. Why his father was so set on BAMA can be speculated, but this was not the normal flip situation.

LSU has been a beter launching pad for high NFL draft status and future NFL success so that argument does not fly.

Janzen Jackson. Not a melt but really pissed at how things went down and since it involved Joey Freshwater showing his true colors.

Ryan Perrilloux initially committing to Texas.

I pretty much gave up on competing with Bama after Surtain signed with them.

Tony Brown. The whole sick parent, being closer to home, etc. and then commits to Bama. Then while at Bama he seemed to be a POS on the field too.

Well that's different.

I tend to melt more about posters who spread stupid, unsupportable narratives. I just went back and looked at my post history and I just don't melt when players go elsewhere. I melt about the people who melt about such things and think it means the end of LSU football because a dude like Speedy Noel or Jantzen go elsewhere.

Landon Collins made me quit following recruiting but made me think more objectively about kids making decisions. Gunner Kiel got me in the feels because I thought we were going to have us a ball player at QB. Like most instances the Kiel situation turned out for the best.

Andre Debose for me.

That’s around the time I started realizing that silent commits don’t mean a damn thing in the end. I chuckle now when I hear “oh, he’s silently committed.” He was the last one to take me for a ride.

it just seems like all Louisiana stars, when we lose them, go to our most hated rival at the time. They really like to stick it to the home town guys.

Actually, it is a character issue. For some it's immaturity (see, e.g., Dylan Moses). For others, it's a real self-hatred (see, e.g., Gerald Willis). I know this: the ones who come down to the wire and stay (Fournette, Devin White) are real men.

That's why I'm not too worked up about Sopsher. If he has the balls to say to Nick, "sorry but I'm going to rep the boot and help bring us back," then we got a beast. If he doesn't, there is a 50/50 chance he'll pan out due to maturity or worse issues.

I don’t see any reasons to melt. The “worst” right now is Bama, right?

Well I watched Bama play UGA with 5 potential LSU guys on their D, pondered our D, and thought to myself we don’t miss a damn one of them.

Think about this (and maybe we should start a Rant thread about it)... change nothing about the LSU program, but switch coaching staffs the last 10 years: LSU is 9-1 vs Bama under that scenario T or F?
