We got rained out the day we were supposed to play her school. They did go undefeated in their district, but I don't have anything right now.
Dang, let me know if you hear anything.
I think Pleasants and her team are now in the play offs. Here are some stats from some of the signees
Taylor Pleasants: .590 BA, .658 OBP, 15 doubles, 6 triples, 7 home runs
Victoria Abrams: .505 BA, .560 OBP, 15 doubles, 5 triples, 19 home runs
Ciara Briggs: .589 BA, .664 OBP, 11 doubles, 4 triples, 4 home runs
Raeleen Gutierrez: .487 BA, 6 doubles, 4 triples, 7 home runs
Cait Calland, Anna Jones and Edwards I do not have stats for right now but last I saw Anna was hitting above .500 with a bunch of extra base hits.

Yes..
Taylor's team is still in the 2nd round.
Anna's team, like mine, have a bye in the first and have to play by Tuesday. We open tomorrow...

Who will be the starting middle infield next season? We seem like we have a lot of options in the outfield, at corner infield, and at catcher, but are very limited in middle infielders.
Taylor Pleasants looks like she could be a day 1 starter. What about the other spot?

Doyle will be the only returning starter in the infield. We lose a lot of experience but things can change if LSU adds a top transfer this offseason. With the amount of kids transferring these days it’s a pretty good possibility.
Pleasant can play SS or 2B. I thought the plan for her was to play 2B. They are kinda hoping Tidwell takes the SS spot next year, she has the arm but we will have to see about her bat. Perkins is the backup for 3B but there is a possibility Doyle moves over to 3B next year. She has practiced there before and she had a great arm/glove. That would make room for Clark or Gutierrrez at 1B. As for catcher Calland and Cummins will battle it out. Calland was a late pick up for us but she has been really good for the Texas bombers!

Congrats to Anna Jones and her HS team for winning the state title this week.
Briggs and Pleasants teams have been knocked out the plays off.
Calland is still in the play offs with Katy and are playing again this week against a good Deer Park team.
Pleasants will be focusing on Team USA this summer and the rest will be playing their last summer of travel ball before coming to LSU in August.
As far as transfers, things are about to pick up. Krupit from Baylor is already in the portal. Expect a lot more announcements the next two weeks. That will be something to keep an eye on. I imagine if there is a big player in the portal, LSU will try to go after them.

I saw parts of Anna's games at the TAPPS state tournament before my team started warm ups for our championship games. Looks like she can help LSU.

This post is not counting any transfers in or out. I expect some changes just because that is how college sport should are.
The names you can write in to the lineup right now is Andrews, Doyle, Stewart and Sunseri. I can see Doyle moving over to 3rd. Gutierrez and Clark will battle for 1st. From Left to Right probably Stewart, Andrews, Briggs. Calland and Cummins will battle a Catcher. Tidwell and Pleasants in the middle infield.
Potential Lineup:
Andrews CF
Stewart LF
Sunseri DH/P
Doyle 3B
Pleasants 2B
Clark 1B
Briggs RF
Calland/Cummins C
Tidwell SS
Other potential starters: Antoine, Schulte, Gutierrez, Perkins
This is my fun lineup, one I think might work for next year. It will have debatable spots. But when Sunseri is pitching I would like to see this.
Briggs RF
Stewart LF
Sunseri P
Doyle 3B
Pleasants 2B
Clark DH
Gutierrez 1B
Tidwell SS
Andrews CF
Calland/Cummins C Flex
Yes, I know. “Why would you move Andrews from the lead off spot?” I love Aaliyah Andrews, but unless she develops a stronger bat, she is limited. Still a very good hitter, but a limited one. I really liked our offense the one year Sandra Simmons lead off. She had the ability to slap, hit for average, and hit for power and she lead off very well. I think Briggs or Gutierrez can be able to be a SENIOR YEAR Sandra Simmons type hitter. With Andrews in the 9 spot she doesn’t really have to worry about knocking runners in and can be able to turn the lineup over. She can run like crazy in the 9 hole and steal even more bases. I doubt Torina would ever consider that and y’all will probably hate the idea, but kinda makes sense. Tidwell is an interesting player. She seems to have a very good defensive arm and she looks like she can be more powerful than Serrett. But can she hit for average? Doyle needs to be better next year and Clark needs to be the player we know she can be. A lot of question marks going into next year. Season ended yesterday and I’m already ready for it to start again

But all in all, we have no clue what’s gonna happen. Sometimes I look back at our old discussions and just laugh at how off we were. Aaliyah Andrews wasn’t even thought of a starter, look at her now. We thought that thymes would be a day one starter. And how we would have a star duo in the circle in Selman and Corbello lol. You never know what will happen lol we just gotta let the girls play and everything will work it’s self out.

Andrews still had an on base % of over 400 for the year, hard to move that out of the lead off spot. I can see Antoine possibly taking that open outfield spot and hitting 9th.

Add in Savannah Stewart, who barely sniffed any type of action in OOC play, then ends up being arguably LSU's best hitter to end the season.
I expected her to play a lot and do well as a freshmen but hitting over .360 as a true frosh is extremely impressive. She hit against LSU's toughest opponents to end the year. Very promising for the future.
Without the addition of any transfers
Andrews-CF
Stewart-LF
Sunseri-DH
Doyle- 3B
Clark/Gutierrez-1B
Pleasants- 2B
Briggs-RF
Tidwell-SS
Cummins/Calland-C
Just my personal opinion but I feel extremely confident Briggs will be an upgrade in RF over Antoine and someone who can hit over .300 year one. Of all the incoming freshmen she is probably the most tested given the major pool of D1 talent she faced routinely every week in her area of California, and with significant success. I think Antoine will get the nod at first but I see Briggs eventually running away with the spot much like Stewart did this season. Briggs was a unanimous top 15 recruit for a reason. I think everyone will love watching her next year, she is a fun kid to watch.

If Andrews does not adjust her offense I would not start her. At the end of the season everyone even the TD faithful knew what was going to happen.
I had expected some adjustment...surprised nothing happened.

Andrews is easily one the best defensive players in the nation. Andrews is easily one of the fastest players in the nation. Andrews still had on of the best batting averages, hers did not fall nearly as much as a few of the other hitters did at the end of the season.

There is no question Andrews needs to expand her game offensively because top teams can take away what she does well but benching her is dumb. She has hit well above .300 all 3 years and is essentially an automatic double if she gets on base. She is great defensively as well. LSU is a better team when she is out there and running the base path. She has been the difference for LSU in many of their wins the last couple years.
LSU had some bigger issues to end the year than just Andrews at the plate.

Serrett won’t be hard to replace from a production standpoint. She seemed to be a solid leader but has never been a great defender or hitter. She hit 200 in SEC play for the first time in her career this year.
Sanchez had an unreal year at second base which was a shock to anyone familiar with the program. We won’t get double digit HRs at that position for a while. She was fantastic this year.
I think the middle is our easiest place to get better. We can find much better upside at SS and we have been bad for years at 2B with this season’s results being pleasantly surprising and totally unexpected.
Andrews doesn’t need to do anything to “change her game”. She is a bone fide high end lead off hitter that gets on base at a high rate and turns it in to doubles. Nobody else on our team can do that. Any discussion that she needs to do anything different is just flat out dumb. Nothing is more important that getting on base.

You are correct, but you have to look at the trend. Not one of the teams at the WCWS have a leadoff who’s a 100% slapper. You have players like Lorenz, Romero, Nickles, And Palomino-Cardozo as power hitters leading off. Bates, Sides, Bayless, And Partian who aren’t “power hitters”, but the all have the ability to hit homeruns and doubles, which Andrews can not.
Furthermore Becker and Leach were the only two other slappers leading off for the Super Regional teams. Both of them also have way more power than Andrews.
Andrews literally had one extra base last year. She is an excellent player but Softball is evolving and she may not be the best option for lead off. At UCLA Kelly Godin is hitting almost .450 in the 9 hole which gives her team a chance to knock in runners. In the 9 hole Andrews would be able to do so much more and wouldn’t really have to worry about knocking people in. I personally think she would excel.
HOWEVER that is only if we have another player capable of being a lead off. We should not try to force someone into the lead off spot if they can’t do it, which was our problem two years ago trying to replace AJ Andrews. However, when we settled on Simmons who was very versatile, we flourished as an offense.
