Might I recommend going cold turkey. Two weeks of water will change your tastebuds totally.

That's great, congrats. When I was 30ish, I used to have about 12/week and now I'm down to about 3/week.

Although last week I went skiing with friends and probably had about 15 in four days (mixed drinks) plus beers and have been feeling not quite the same since.

Cold turkey from dipping? No chance in hell. I’ve tried quitting several times and it ain’t happening.

I dipped two cans of Cope long cut a day. Tried switching to Grizz and Longhorn to reduce. Nothing worked but cold turkey.

Good god. I might have had 6-8 in 2018.

Why not switch to diet soda?

I'm not saying they're great for you but they certainly aren't worse than the calories youve been ingesting, undoubtedly causing weight gain

I was prob drinking 3-6 diet cokes a day. I lost a quick 10-15 lbs when I quit em. Stick to water, milk, oj, and coffee now.

Seriously how do diet Cokes compare to regular Cokes?
I've heard they're better for you because 0 calories vs. 150 per can. I've heard they're just as bad. I've heard they're actually worse for you.
FTR, I drink no more than one 12 ounce diet Coke a day.

Careful with the juice. Most of the time it has just as much sugar and can have even more calories than soft drinks.

I’m not arguing with that statement, but like a guy here previously argued stupidly, there is a huge difference in getting 10g of sugar from orange juice that comes with other vitamins and nutrients and 10gs of sugar from a coke.

Just as bad, man. Artificial sweeteners are terrible for you.

I can’t stand the taste of diet soft drinks. I’m fine just sticking to water

Yeah can't argue with that. But I doubt it's worth the sugar you get with the vitamins and minerals.

Unpopular opinion here:

There's really not much evidence that they are bad for you.

They certainly aren't good for you, as in they are void of nutrients and they don't offer any benefits to heart health it anything, but they seem to mostly be a net neutral. If they trigger you to eat more then they are best avoided. As with anything, moderation is best. I have 1-2 20oz Coke Zeros/week.

You tried Coke Zero....that doesn’t have a strong diet taste.

Neither does diet Mountain Dew. I never drink regular soda anymore (maybe 1-2 a year if that). I’ll have a diet soda maybe 2-3 times a week at work though if I need some caffeine.

You should change your title to "It's amazing just how bad ________ are for you." You consume just about anything that much a day has got to be bad for you.

What was you blood pressure? That's an awful lot of caffeine too.

The problem with juices is that you're getting quite a lot of sugar -- much more than you would from eating the whole fruit itself. For example, one medium orange has about 2 ounces of juice. How many people drink only 2 ounces of orange juice at a sitting? Or do they drink more like 8, 10, or 12? Would anyone eat 3, 4, or 5 whole orange sin one sitting? Doubtful, you'd be full long before that. Second point, when you eat the whole fruit, the fiber helps our body process the sugar better and over time, so we don't get that blood sugar reaction nearly as much with fruit as we do with juices. Third, lots of companies add more sugar to juices (apple and cranberry being the largest offenders).

tl;dr: juices are sources of concentrated sugar that our bodies process quickly causing blood sugar issues. Minus the fiber of a whole fruit, juices should be had in serious moderation, or not at all.

The closest taste I have ever found to the original is diet Sunkist and diet rootbeer.
