Backhaul Wiring Mesh Help

Posted by Ice Cream Sammich on 9/19/25 at 10:59 am
Howdy all!

I made a post a few months ago about adding a mesh system to my house. We moved our home office across the house from the router and the amount of devices connected to our WIFI shocked us when we actually counted them.

I purchased 3 TP-Link Deco BE63 Tri-Band WiFi 7 BE10000 devices.

I am still having some connection issues where the WIFI gets extremely slow, but never drops once or twice a week.

The first Deco device is plugged into my BGW210 (BGW210 set into passthrough and being used as a modem only) and is the router.
The second Deco device is 50' away and is being used in mesh mode.
The third Deco device is 50' away from the second device, 100' from the router, and is being used in mesh mode.

I want to wire the system for backhaul.

My questions are:

Do I need to run an Ethernet cable from the 3rd device all the way back to the router, or can I run it back to the second device? Obviously the second device needs to go back to the router itself.

Once the second and third devices are wired for backhaul, do I need to change them to access points or keep them in mesh?

If backhaul wiring the Deco devices does not get the WIFI where I want it to be, I am considering buying TP-Link Deco BE25 Dual-Band BE5000 WiFi 7 Mesh (much smaller devices for odd shaped areas). These will probably not be wired, should these be set as APs or mesh?

Finally, I have a service appointment with AT&T to hopefully swap out my BGW210 for a new one. I will try my best to get the upgraded BGW-320, but I will have to see if the technician is willing to play the upgrade to 5gb game then downgrade to 1gb idea.

Thank yall for your help!

The question you should be asking is do you want LASIK for that little prescription.

Absolutely. Even with the minor perscription, I get headaches not wearing my contacts. This is even around the house. Driving just down the road is even worse and not the safest.

LASIK - BR Area

Posted by Ice Cream Sammich on 9/3/25 at 10:28 am
Howdy all,

I have been wearing contacts for 20 plus years and am wanting to change that. My vision is minimally corrected with contacts (-1.50 in each eye), but just enough to give me headaches if I do not wear them. Also, my vision has not changed once in these 20 years.

I went to a consultation with William Eye Center and got their spill. I walked away with all questions answered and felt good about the place, doctor, and procedure.

My questions:

Who else should I be considering for LASIK in the BR area? I have only been to Williamson because they are the largest in the area and was able to get me in for the consultation very quickly.

What is the going price for LASIK? Williamson's price is $3,920.00 for both eyes, all in. This is a hair bit more than what I was expecting, but not unreasonable. I am about to have to get another eye exam ($150.00) and then order another 2-3 years worth of contacts ($400-$500) if I push this past the 1st of the year.

I am not trying to get the absolute cheapest eye doctor, but do not want to get hosed either.

Finally, I do not have cataracts nor any other issues that need to be corrected, just vision.

Thank yall!
Good point that I did not think about including, but no, I will not be wiring the backhaul.

Looking into your suggestions now.

House is single story 2,500 sqft.
I am moving my home office from one side of the house to the other. The room that is becoming the office has always had bad WiFi signal, but good enough for the Roku stick and playing on a phone. Will not be good enough for my main computer.

250Mbps next to router, 28Mbbps in new office (iPhone WiFi).

The new room is only 100' from the old office and where the modem/router are located. But, it does have a dozen walls between A and B.

I have AT&T Fiber with 1gb. I currently have the BGW210 modem/router combo.

Should I call AT&T and get the newer BGW320?
Should I add a router and set the BGW210 to bypass?
Should I add a mesh system like:
TP Link Amazon
Eero Amazon

Or, is there something else that I should/could do?

Thanks for the help!
I bought this one today. Seems like a decent deal for a decent unit.

Thanks for y’all’s help!

Academy Blackstone
The softwash industry calls it SH. Seems like if I am asking people inside the industry a question, I would use their terms.

Thanks for your help.
Howdy,

I wash my house, roof, and driveway down a few times a year and have been buying 12.5% SH from Leslies Pool Supplies for the past few years. Its cheap enough ($8.00/gal), but I am about to wash my inlaws house down in Shreveport, then head back to BR to wash my parents house too.

I found Veteran Preaux Wash in Gonzales that sells 12.5% for $2.75/gal, but wanted to see if anyone had anyone else in the area that sells it for cheaper or closer to Denham Springs?

Veteran Preaux Wash dumps into bulk containers, which I have, so thats not an issue with them nor any other company either.

Thanks!

Blackstone help!

Looking to buy myself a 36" Blackstone.

Dicks Sporting Goods has the 36" Iron Forged for $450.

Most other places are charging the same for the standard model, if not more.

I am not sure what makes the Iron Forged better, but why not?

Finally, my question, What other brand should I be looking at?
When it came to pellet smokers, I bought a Z Grill and it ran circles around my fathers in laws Rectec and was half the price.
A lever 45-70 is probably my next gun, but one at a time.

I’d love a Socom, but I already have a 20# AR10.

I don’t mind the Sig Cross, but the CA Scout or SA Redline are top choices at the moment.

Lots of other great options mentioned, but I’m wanting to stick to a 16” or 18” barrel. The Bergara was a great mention, but barrel length kicks it out.
Under $2,500 for gun. Probably same for glass.

Looking at Leupold MK5/6 or NF.

Help me choose my next rifle!

Wanting to buy a new rifle. I want a short and lightweigh tackdriver. I am thinking in the 6lb range with a 16" barrel. Caliber isnt a huge deal, but .308 seems like the right direction given the shorter barrel. I already have a few 300BLK, so not that.

Will be used for whitetail shots under 200yds and other such items. Glass will be a 2-10 or 2-12.

I am leaning towards the Springfield Armory, but what do yall think? What did I not list that I should be looking at in the same ballpark?

Springfield Armory Redline
.308 - 16" Barrel - 6lbs on the dot - $1,500ish
Springfield is also doing a tax free stamp on Banish cans for the time being. So, this effectively brings the price down $200.00

Christensen Arms Ridgeline Scout
.308 - 16" Barrel - 5.9lbs or so - $1,900ish

Ruger American Gen2 Ranch
.308 - 16" Barrel - 6.5lbs - $550

amp draw has nothing to do with tank. It's the motor.

I am well aware of this. That is why I said low draw compressor.

It appears that the 8 gallon California Air is the best option.

Running romex for a 20a breaker will cost $200 and the compressor will be an additional $200 over the smaller CA unit.

Do you run your compressor on an extension cord by chance?

No extension cord.

I can 100% get away with a small pancake, but those inflatable pools take forever.

I am honestly looking at the logistics of just running a dedicated 20a outlet now.
Howdy all,

I currently have a Husky 20 gallon 2hp air compressor its around 10-12 years old and the motor is on its last legs (more on this).
I want to get a replacement air compressor, but want to avoid some issues my current one has.
My shop only has a 15amp breaker. I have to roll the 20 gallon compressor out of the shop and closer to the breaker to get it to fill the tank. Because of this, the motor has about crapped out and is a huge pain.
I want to replace it with a much lower drap amperage compressor.

The Husky is rated for 15 amps. This California Air Tools compressor only draws 8.5 amps.
Does anybody has any reccomendations on low amp draw compressors? Does anybody have a lead on low draw compressors with a larger tank?

All I currently do is fill car/truck tires, blow off tools before putting them up, and blowing up kids pools and toys.

Finally, running a new 20a outlet or 220v line might be a last option.
I think its getting hot between the truck and shelf. Allows the bacteria to start growing and greatly shortens the lifespan.
