My New Years resolution was to quit drinking cokes, Pepsi’s, dr peppers, etc...I’ve lost 19 lbs since.

6-8 a day

I’d fill up my big gulp from the gas station 2-3 times a day

HOLY shite! You're lucky to be alive. Those things are terrible for you, but when I am hungover, all I want is some Popeye's chicken and a Dr. Pepper

i gave them up for HS for track and CC. drank them again in college because i didn't drink alcohol and got lolzfat. quit drinking them again when i was about 250 at 25.

now 35 and about 175. i make good health choices in general and exercise regularly, but laying off cokes helped a lot.

i probably have about 4-5 cokes a year with a burger or something, but that's it.

Kudos on cutting it but what was the attraction to having that many sodas a day? You had to have felt like utter crap the majority of the time, no?

6-8 a day is over 1,000 calories extra daily. 2 lbs a week of extra calories. Additionally, in some of them the chemicals trigger your brain to eat more junk food, so it turns into a cycle. Most of those are in the "diet" ones I think though

Gotcha. I remember back to when I was eating and drinking whatever and I just didn't know how miserable I was until I cut out the unnecessary crap.

All that sugar man, it's the devil.

I remember reading an article that said the average American would lose roughly 20 lbs over 12 months if he kicked the sodas. Looks like you're ahead of the curve here. I will try to find the article. I remember it was a good read.

Assuming you didn't replace the sodas with tobacco or Red Bulls, you're saving upwards of $2k/year. The money alone would have been incentive enough for me to kick the addiction if I was you.

I’ve been dipping for 15 or so years now

Never cared for Red Bull’s or any energy drinks. I don’t drink coffee either.

Found this on some health website. By the sound of it, you have a daily soda intake that exceeds 50 oz. You would have to perform at least 45 minutes of strenuous activity a day to overcome your calorie intake from just soda.

quote:

If you replace your daily Double Gulp (50 ounces) with water, you reduce your annual calorie intake by 219,000 calories or about 60 pounds in a year.

Obesity and heart disease. That high fructose corn syrup is like shards of glass for our arteries.
