In addition to your fitness level, one thing that factors into this is your height. There's a big difference in 5'8'' 180 lbs. and 6'3'' 180 lbs. The former physique has more body tissue and (all else being equal) that person probably has a better chance of achieving that goal than a the taller person.

^ This. I'm short with short arms and large chest. I've always done well at bench, but my body type makes it an easier lift for me.

I'm #155 and there's no way in hell I'm even doing that now. I don't lift bro but if you want to do cardio then I'm going to run you in circles

reading this thread and I'm sitting here hoping all of these people are like 5'7"

I'm 6'2" 185 and there is no way I'm every going to realistically approach benching 370

hell I don't know if I'll ever bench 300

Negative. At my fit best I was a perfect LHW at 205.

At my age 410 is the land where rotator cuffs go to die.

OP best of luck in your attempts, but listen to your body. You don't want to be "shoulder guy" who can't lift his kid above his head.

for every pound you can drop its 2 off the bench. So if you drop 15# the total you'd need to do goes down by 30.

When you guys throw out these numbers are they a 1 rep max or what you bench for working sets? I'm benching 190 3x5 now and I know I'll never bench double my weight for a 3x5. Goal is 225. I'm 6'1 185lbs.

I haven't maxed in a while. I am short at 5'9 and weight fluctuates between 165-170 but I did 335lbs on bench a couple years ago. So yea, it is realistic for my build and training

Bench press max chart

This is just an estimate but if people throw out a bunch of sets and reps they haven’t actually maxed to know. This can get you in the ballpark though

I think about 1.5/2/2.5 bench/squat/deadlift is a good goal

I weigh 215-220

So absolutely not lol. Most I’ve done is 320. Currently I can maybe do 255

Right now, I'm 195-200 and my 1 rep max is around 275. I'm 6'3, so I have a ways to go before 2x bodyweight is realistic.

I’m 5’10” with short arms so that probably helps my numbers a good bit

That's an ideal goal for anyone who isn't a professional athlete, maybe a little more on the squat, but not much. If you can bench 1.5x, squat 2x, and deadlift 2.5x your weight, you're likely in the top 5% of the world in terms of strength.

I’m 6’2 190 lbs and I can probably barely even bench my body weight

Is benching Double your body weight a realistic goal for you? Absolutely not. Tall and Heavy. I'm thankful I can bench a bit more than my bodyweight at all
