re: Hiking/Backpacking recommendations

KUIU makes a good tent. Nemo is good but some models have issues. I like the Slingfin Portal but pricewise I'd go KUIU, it goes on sale a lot and in a package with a footprint pretty often.

Usman won but if that fight goes another round I think it might be a different outcome.
re: Outdoor TV and ESPN

Been posted already, but I put a TCL outside and it actually looks really nice and has held up through 2 winters just fine. It's much brighter than my Lg Oled in the TV room and some people like it better even though it cost a fraction of the price :banghead:
I spent a lot of effort running a zone 2 connection to my receiver and installed two speakers outside so I could mirror the TV room. It's nice but almost not worth the effort. Sometimes it can be flaky. It's a lot easier just to run the YouTube or ESPN apps from the TCL if you aren't going to watch something for very long.

re: GM issues stop sell /recall on 6.2L gas engines
Posted by EsquireReb on 5/2/25 at 9:57 am to biglego
I got rid of a 2008 Tundra to get one of the new ones but then they had the recall. Since then, I've gone full circle to Ford, GM, RAM and back to Toyota trying to decide what to get. They all seem to have problems and it's a roll of the dice. I was set on a Chevrolet ZR2 or Trail boss and then this 6.2 news hit.
So my question for anyone who knows - how is the 3.0 baby diesel in the GMC/Chevrolets? Would anyone recommend or steer me away from a ZR2 or Trail Boss with the 3.0 instead of the 6.2? The ZR2 doesn't come in the 5.3 - but the Trail Boss does. I think I'm too concerned with the 6.2 to go that route now.
I was mainly looking at the off-road trims. GMC At4, Ford Tremor, Toyota TRD Pro or the limited with the TRD package, Ram Rebel, or Chevy Trailboss/Zr2

^^ Was going to post this. Even in his losses, he usually puts up an entertaining fight. It's not like he's getting demolished every time. I think he has been in 3-4 straight fight of the night or performance of the night fights but his age is creeping up there.
I like Chandler and Paddy. Just based off Chandlers age, I'm probably pulling for Paddy since he'll be around for awhile.

This is me! I've ran the numbers before but I would have to purchase a house that cost around 60% or so of the house I bought in 2021 to keep a similar payment.
I would have to give up my pool, 1200 ft shop, and a little over 1000 square ft to get a house in that price range......and have the same payment - no way I'm doing that.

Agree that it isn't the most attractive card based solely off of names but sometimes the bigger name fights don't end up being that great. I can think of a few times I had friends over to watch the big fight which turned out to be a dud. Sometimes the lesser name guys who you don't even know can be entertaining.
Jones vs Gane for example. In 60 seconds he had him against the fence and in about 45 more seconds later it was over. The true fight fans probably still enjoyed it but the casual fan, not so much.

What trim did you start with?

I've been looking as well and I keep going in circles. I had a tundra that I sold with 280k miles, never the first issue. The plan was to get a new one but with the issues I started looking at GMC at4 and even RAM Rebel even though I've never looked at RAM at all. Now I've circled back to Toyota I think.
My biggest issue is Tundra and GMC just updated their interiors the last couple of years. The RAM I can get a 2021 or even a 2020 and the interior looks decent - GMC and Toyota I have to get a 2023 (Toyota 2022) so for any package I want is still 50k+. 2020-2022 GMC info screens look tiny - and the shifter isn't in the center console. Which I might could get used to but Tundra has been in the console so that's what I'm used to.
That said, GMC AT4 exterior is probably my favorite.

re: Is OLED really that much better than QLED? needing a TV for man cave for under 2,000.

I have no issues with my LG OLED setup in my game room. I do wish I would have gotten the next size up but the prices were a good bit higher a few years ago when I bought mine and I was buying speakers and a receiver setup at the same time so I opted for the 65". I want to replace it with a 77 or 83 and move the 65" to the living room at some point though.

Thanks guys. If 105 will suffice, then that will save some money.
I'm very torn on shopping local vs. something like Canyon. I usually am willing to pay more for local or made in USA but Canyon is a significant savings vs trek (my local shop only deals in trek). A couple hundred bucks is one thing but I want to say it was closer to $1200 difference for a carbon bike with 105.

Any bike riders in here?

I thought about riding, mainly for fitness but I would like to do some century rides for fun. Any recommendations on bike models or anything I need to know? Is Shimano 105 good enough or do I need the 105 di2?
I looked at what most manufactures are calling "endurance" models. Giant Defy, Trek Domane and Cervelo Caledonia and I also glanced at two direct to consumer type brands - Canyon and Lauf.

re: Favorite flashlight?
Posted by EsquireReb on 10/21/24 at 9:19 pm to WAR TIGER
I like Fenix. Of all mine I grab the PD series the most. I think mine is a PD36R pro maybe? It is the one that is rechargeable. I've never owned a bad Fenix and I've thrown mine in the pool to test the waterproof capabilities with no issue.
I tried an Olight brand once. It worked fine but it felt cheaper than the Fenix to me but to be fair it was one of the very small Olights so it wasn't apples to apples.
But there is 50 other brands that I'm sure all make good "higher end" lights.

re: Harbor Freight good and bad

They just released a new dust collector on the Hercules line for $299 with 2x hepa filters. I bought it with a 25% coupon. It's nearly as good as Festool other than the hose is nowhere near as nice. But it comes with a floor sweeping attachment which I've been using a lot. That accessory is an additional $115 for Festool. Ive never bought any harbor freight stuff other than jack stands and a rolling cart and some shop stools, but for the $240 I paid, it is honestly a great value.

I do my own and the Taylor 2006 kit is well worth it. I struggled often before buying it. I think it's around $100? give or take but it has saved me 10x that in wasted chemicals.

I didn’t see where CZ offers a barreled action. Does it matter which model you start with? Are all the actions/receivers the same? Did you do the barrel swap yourself or take it to a shop?
