same, and I felt my shoulder about to let go. I've never been above 250 since. I did work up to doing 225 3x12 a few years ago. I was pretty proud of that.

In HS @ 6'5" 235 I was in the 1500 club (controlled no bounce) without the aids of lifting shirts or shorts or any of that stuff.

In mid 20s at 220lbs I got up to benching 405 for 3 sets of 3 with free weights. Not sure I could have done 440 though.

At nearly 43 and now 190lbs , I'm fairly fit but use mostly machine lifts now for saftey and convienence. Typically, 3 sets of 8 to 10 aiming for failure at 200lb on machine bench and some dumbell incline and decline after that. I used a different gym and had to use plain bench and barbell last week and did 3 sets of 10 at 175 that felt real unsteady.

My goal between now and Jan is to get to a comfortable 225 on nl bench, and up to 4000 pushups over 30 days of Dec. I'll complete 1000 in sept.
