Talked the wife into going in with me on replacing breakfast & lunch w/ a good protein shake for a few months and the last time I tried this i picked up something random at GNC.

i dont trust shite about amazon reviews so i'm counting on my baws here to hook me up.

Wonderful contribution, Mingo.

I like the Gold Standard Whey Protein. I also like Isopure.

Just figure out your macros and eat clean to meet them baw. It's just a little work to get the hang of it, but you'll enjoy it once you see the results.
Way more fulfilling. And you can actually eat.
Protein powder/shakes are a supplement to help with that. Not a meal by itself.

True Nutrition

They offer the best variety I've found. Everything from Vegan to Paleo. The key is to make sure you have fiber in the meal replacement or you won't get the appetite suppression. There's has psyllium husk for fiber, but I also add inulin to mine.

Not sure why the hate for them? I like mine for breakfast as a pre-workout. Quick, easy, and light on my stomach.

Already started on the psyllium husk today.

I don't know what this is. Do you have a link to a thread?

Like others have said, I recommend doing some reading on proper macros and trying to build meals around that. But if you do intend to replace a meal with a shake, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard is my go-to.

I wouldn’t replace both meals. You run the risk of not getting all of the nutrients you need if you don’t have a good, well-rounded shake. It’ll also get boring AF after awhile.

Sure. Here's some basics.
If you have any questions, I'm happy to help. Kudos to you and your wife for for even caring. That's half the battle.
I just like to tell people from personal experience this is an awesome way to sustain healthy eating long term. Just my personal opinion.

The Bottom Line
When first counting macros, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

However, following the steps above can streamline the process and set you up for success.

The most important steps in counting macros are setting a calorie goal and macronutrient range for carbs, protein and fat that works best for you.

Then, log your food intake and aim to stay within your macros by eating a diet rich in fresh produce, healthy fats, complex carbs and protein sources.

Before you know it, counting macros will feel natural.

I use Transparent Labs whey isolate for my protein and build off of that.

If you are looking for meal replacement, I would add in psyllium husk fiber, a handful of mixed berries, some greens, and several spoonfuls of greek yogurt.

You already did. It's called marriage.

If you're trying to lose weight, make sure you read the nutritional value of the protein powder. Some of those things have 500+ calories and tons of sugar. I'm sure you'll be adding fruit and milk to it as well. All that shite adds up quick. My dad thought he was being healthy by doing this until I pointed out he was consuming his daily intake of sugar for his first meal.

Thank you! I know about Atkins and keto and have tracked my basal metabolic rate before when I was training but the macro technique is new to me.

You realize that the meal replacement shakes are composed of the same macros you're tracking right? It's simply a different delivery method.

I use zero sugar Isopure.

Mix it with greek yogurt, two cups of spinach, oat fiber, and frozen fruit. I drink these daily as a meal replacement.
