Mario 64 was amazing.

I got it launch day with money I earned from working at a stable because that was the only place that would hire kids under 16.

On their first try Nintendo basically perfected 3d platform controls. They were so good you can pick up the latest 3D Mario platformer and the controls work exactly the same 25 years later.

SM64 was one of the few magical gaming experiences. Just mindblowing at the time.

'm not willing to say that it was the greatest leap forward in video game history, but it was probably the greatest translation of a series that was the king of side scrollers to 3d.

Yeah it was so different at the time. It’s way closer to a game that would be released today than those original games of the NES or SNES.

Mario 64 definitely blew my mind but Ocarina of Time was what made me say "holy crap, I can't believe they did this".

I thought it was ok but not great. I appreciated the technological achievement but I didn't care much for the actual gameplay. I never bothered to finish it.

N64.

Metal Mario and the reflective surfaces of OOT(spiritual stones, sage medallions, mirror shield) blew my mind.

Castlevania and Donkey Kong on the N64 were even worse.

The N64 Castlevania might be the worst game ever. Considering it came not too far behind PlayStation’s “Symphony of the Night” makes it even more infuriating.

I didn't like Mario 64 at all. Just the title screen was enough to make me not want to play it, but I tried it anyway and it was ugly and annoying.

You shut your whore mouth.

It was the first 3D game that really got the feeling of moving around in a 3D environment right.

That said, I hate that it turned an entire generation of platformers into collectathons instead of just going from point a to b.

All of the n64 games were too hard and I never beat any of them They should’ve had pc back then so I could download cheats

I know this is Gaucho, but this reminded me that I got my first computer the Christmas the N64 was released. I remember being so disappointed

Bold statement. But it was a great game. Maybe the best soundtrack ever, with each level having a great theme. Plays well to this day.

While we're bringing up other 64 bangers: Wave Race. Haven't had that much fun with any water racing since. Had amazing feel for its time.

That and San Fransisco Rush are the two games from my childhood collection that managed to disappear over the years.

Have y'all seen the videos floating around lately with albums/songs redone with the Mario 64 Soundboard?

Here's Dirt from Alice in Chains and it's amazing

Been playing it on an emulator. Love everything about it minus the camera sometimes. Everything about that games take you back in time. The music/sound

If they did a DK64 remaster, I would take back every negative thing I've said about Nintendo.

That was the most maddening thing that detracted from my time playing it. That said, I played a shite ton of it.

Mario 64 was amazing. Recently I did a 100% 120 star file on the switch collection and outside of some locations where the camera is a little annoying, the game has held up incredibly well. Just really great feeling movement for such an old game.
