I'll admit it. I silently judge them if they order a steak past medium. I think anybody that cares or knows anything about food would as well.

Doesn't mean I'll be rude or get angry or berate the person, but I'll silently think to myself "ugh what a waste" and go about my dinner.
Im the same way. I would never say anything though. But my opinion is why order a filet Over Medium when you can order a $10 steak from Chilis that will taste the same?

Exactly. A shitty cut and great cut will taste virtually the same at Medium Well or Well. Why spend the extra money?

It will make a difference with a nice cut at Med Rare.

I thought steak was gross and tasted like a flavorless work boot until I was 16 or so. Once I had steak medium-rare I never went back.

I just said this in another thread on the OT. I thought steak was horrible for a good chunk of my life. Even when I started dating Jones and we went to Ruth's, I got a fish dish every time. Finally, one night we went and I had a med-rare ribeye... it was like meeting jesus would be to some.

As much as I love steak I can still only eat it about once a month.

Well we can't all be refined foodies like you. Some of us have to be peasants. I cook/order mine rare to med rare, though.

Ah....that, my friend, is why you balance it with a glass of whiskey....smooths it right out. Although, I don't think that helps with the being healthy. Sure is satisfying, though.

Jesus would probably order a thick-cut prime bone-in ribeye well done, ask for ketchup on the side, then get a Pappy Van Winkle 23 and mix it with his coke. All while not giving a frick what you think.

But we'd be judging the shite out of him anyway.

From my reading and personal experience, they are going to give you the tougher cut nearly every time.
More often, it's a cut of meat that won't be quite as fresh as the ones they cook to medium rare. I guarantee the older browning ones are used for anything past medium.

I always wondered why my parents always ordered steak well done. Personally I like mine medium to medium I find that my stomach digests it faster. However if you raised cattle to be slaughtered and been inside those places like my parents then I'd probably eat it well done too
