Uni handroll at Sushi Yasuda in NYC

I had Uni at a small sushi place down a back alley in Tokyo a few years ago. It was a part of the chef's choice meal that I ordered. I had to force it down and thought I was going to puke right there in the restaurant. It definitely seems to be a love it or hate it type of item.

This was pretty good. I think it was my first reverse sear steak.

My grandmothers tapioca pudding. She would only make it for special occasions and it was the bomb.

I’ve never seen that in the menu. But honestly I also haven’t been to Neptune in a while. May have to go order that soon.

I think the Lobster Spaghettini is only available on Mondays. I did an overnight trip to Boston a few years ago I did in fact go there on a Monday based on my old email records.

Supposedly it's tough to get in Neptune later in the week and the weekends so I guess I picked a good day to pop in .

Almost impossible for me to pick a single dish, but if I had to it would be the Crabmeat St Francis from LeRuth's.

Potato pave from the French Laundry. Been trying to reproduce that for years at home. Fail!

Homemade pasta With wild boar at Osteria Le Panzanelle

Good looking dish. Doesn't sound like it's "homemade" though. Looks like you got it at a restaurant.

I was in the Navy and living in Gaeta, Italy with wife #1. We spent the day at the beach. There was a roadside deli with a patio across from the beach. We each got a caprese salad and a glass of pinot grigio. I'd had many caprese salads before and many after but something about that one has always stuck with me. Every bite was just like oh my god this is so good. It was perfect.

I'd have to think a little more about it, but the first thing the comes to mind is the fois gras nigiri at Uni sushi (original location in Austin).

Might be one of the single best bites of food you'll ever have. An absolute steal for $9

You mean Uchi? I loved that place.

I like the scallop and foie gras nigiri at Umami better though

Yep. I’ve tried uni more than once. I can eat a vast array of cuisine and love variety.

I can't uni.

Best meal was a 7 course dinner at The Painted Lady outside of Portland.

Best thing was probably some buffalo wings and cheeseburger sliders at 3am. This happened many times when I was a yoot.

Not sure about savory food ... but the best dessert I've ever had was the chocolate brownie at the Hazel Mountain Chocolate Factory in Oughtmama, Ireland.

Not sure if I could even describe it ... the carrot cake was phenomenal as well.
