Slow roasted cabrito in Isla Mujeres. They didn’t bring any flatware, that shite was so tender and juicy it will be hard to top on my list.

My MiL would can pork tenderloins, then later serve them and the gravy it made over her homemade biscuits. You'd eat biscuits and tenderloin until you broke out in a cold sweat.

Snapper that went directly from the Gulf to the BGE on the boat.

My wife's beef bourguignon.

My grandmother’s crab cakes, stuffed crabs, or Seafood stuffed bell peppers or seafood stuffed Hungarian peppers. All similar but different. That is not one thing....but that’s in impossible decision.

That and her crispy cinnamon toast. No one anywhere has ever duplicated that amazingness.

As for her heritage, she was born in New Orleans in 1914. She was an amazing cook.

Really couldn't tell you, but there was one night in about 1992 when friends and I wanted something at about 4:00am after a night of drinking. We ended up way out in N.O. East at We Never Close poyboys. That "BBQ" beef poboy with mayo and pickles was at that drunken moment, the greatest thing I ever ate.

Friend,

Uncle took me offshore fishing out of Cypress Cove a few times. During one of the visits we stopped at Pizza Inn in town, or was it in Buras. It may have been 1995? I remember they had an all-you-can eat buffet with pasta. I chose to eat only pizza, but are you suggesting I made the wrong choice? I do not believe Pizza Inn reopened after Katrina.

Yours,

Thanksgiving at my Grandpa and Grandma’ home. Wild game (deer, duck, goose) rice and gravy, peas, corn, corn bread, dressing. Food for the soul for an outdoorsman. Miss them both terribly!

We used to always pick these up when going through Mobile. Very fond memories.
