Looking to change it up a little. What dry rubs do you recommend? Mostly smoking butts, ribs and briskets...

Rufus Teague Spicy Meat Rub. I use it on everything. I buy it at Calandros and it's not exactly cheap at about $5 for a small bottle
eta: Byrons is good but I prefer Rufus because it has some brown sugar in it

Make your own...
The base line I use and change it to my tastes is Memphis Dust for pork and big bad beef rub for beef.

I use the ones from Chris Lilly's first BBQ book. I tweak them some here and there but it is a great cookbook. I probably saved enough on rubs and sauces to pay for it. Any beef I smoke I use kosher salt and cracked black pepper, no point in over doing it and losing the real beef flavor.

Is extremely average at best.
For ribs, try Sweet Rub 'O Mine. Amazon.
For brisket, coarse kosher salt, black pepper. You can also add a little garlic powder.
For pulled pork, google Chris Lilly's butt rub.

For a Memphis dry rib seasoning, I do something like this:
1/2 cup paprika
1/2 t salt , dry mustard and chili powder
1/4 t red pepper
1 t each onion powder and garlic powder
Mix and use to dress the ribs at the end of cooking

If you really want to change it up, I've used pre-mixed masala seasoning with great success.

Leblanc's Guns and Roses(local store in Ascension will carry this) and SWEET RUB O' MINE(Lowe's has this) are the only 2 I use and they are spot on.

This.... I add brown sugar to it for pork.
For brisket I use mostly salt/pepper with some of the bad byrons added.
For everything else i use it straight up. No msg. Can get it in the big containers at goodwood.

Dizzy Dust is great. Chef Paul's Meat Magic is also underrated.
