Another Daily Report, another article about Walk Ons

Do you find it exhausting seeing the constant self promotion of this restaurant company? Or should Baton Rouge be gladly championing one of the few successful locally based companies we have here?

Never understood the hate for Walk Ons. They have good food and a pretty decent beer selection as well. Good place to watch some games.

If it’s so exhausting, you could just not post about them

Do they? I haven't been to walk ons in about 2 years, and their food was meh at best.

Again, if all the variations of bud/miller/coors and abita is your thing, go for it. I'm sure it's changed a bit, unless they are operating the way Sammy's used to operate.

I don't either. Initially, the food wasn't all that great. But I wasn't going there really for the food anyway. It was just something to snack on while I watched ballgames and drank beer.

Now, the food has improved (though the service at the Corporate location is awful) and it's still a good spot to drink beer and watch games (or at least it was when the government allowed people to play games and watch sports)

advertising seems to work for most successful companies- Nike, Ford, Bud, Coke.

Why do you let that trigger you?

The one here in Bham has a pretty good draft list. Several local craft beers, Ghost In the Machine and a couple other Parish beers, and some offerings from the bigger craft brewers - Sierra Nevada, Bell's, Founders, etc.

Yep. Been 3 times now and nothing I've tried was all that good.

Is your beef with Walkons or Daily Report? Whether you like their food or not, why does their success bother you so much?

This one. One of the only widespread Baton Rouge founded companies, with it's headquarters still in BR. Canes is all but headquartered in Texas now. I think the next largest chain started and headquartered in Baton Rouge is Picadilly.

Another place I find highly overrated. Mediocre food at best.

Sports bar food that is average...I've had much worse food at other chain resturants..its really just a place too meet friends to watch a game and have a few beers...if you go expecting ruth chris quality you will be disappointed

Walk ons is a sports bar, almost like a hooters without the wings. The food isn't spectacular, but it's pretty good, and is better than most other chain kind of sports bars. Ive pretty much only been to the original location, and maybe some of the other locations are different. At least for that spot it's got beer, decent food, a good location (for pre/post game eats), tons of games on TV and there's even attractive waitresses in skimpy outfits as the cherry on top.

I don't exactly frequent the place but it serves its purpose well. If they're chaining out then they've gotta be doing something right.

It gets too much hate on here. It is what it is - a sports bar where you go to grab a beer and watch a game, and if you're hungry get something to make you not hungry anymore. The food isn't bad, but it isn't good either.

Anyone going to Walk Ons expecting a memorable dining experience is going to the wrong place. But if you're looking for a place to post up at the bar and have a couple beers, it's a great spot.

Except they actually have a nice selection of local options as well for a SPORTS BAR... but carry on.

My gripe is with Daily Report, do we need an article every week about Walk Ons? That's my question, does their constant hype of WO's get exhausting? Or should we be 1000% behind a BR based business that seems to be succeeding/

This is all that matters. I go a few times a year to watch sports or maybe to meet with some guys after work downtown here.
As others have said, they have good beer. The talent is usually pretty good. The service and food are both much much better than a place like Mannings in New Orleans or the shitholes known as BWW.
