Nashville Eats

Looks like I'll have a couple days in Nashville next month. Haven't been in 10-12 years.
I know there's a lot of great places to check out, so with a limited amount of time, what are the not-to-be-missed places in Nashville?
Also, any good craft breweries worth checking out?

Hattie B's is really good for hot chicken.
The Pharmacy for great burgers.
Merchant's downtown is a cool spot.
Fleet Street Pub is really good and a little off the radar.
Hops and Crafts is a good beer spot as is Craft Brewed.
It's a pretty fun city, enjoy!

Yes, there are roughly 20 in the area now. Depends on how your tastes run, but I think the best are Bearded Iris, Smith & Lentz, Black Abbey, Mantra, Southern Grist, and New Heights. YMMV...

For hot chicken go to Prince's if you want to wait, Bolton's if you don't.
Hattie B's does have the best sides though

I've heard good things about both, I just stay near a Hattie B's everytime I visit so I go there. I enjoy the chicken and like you said, the sides are excellent.
These might be better options though as I know Hattie's is a chain.

Visited in August and ate at both of those. Very good.

There isn’t anything wrong with Hattie B’s, it’s just it’s two selling points really are it’s sides and it’s location. I’d recommend that he eat at every hot chicken place though
Bolton’s is just east of downtown and is close to several breweries. If OP is in East Nasty he should check it out. Then go to the Pharmacy for a burger or something

Catbird Seat was a great experience, and I would highly recommend it.

Coming from someone that hadn’t had hot chicken before our trip in July, Hattie Bs was really good.
Bearded iris had the best beer of the breweries we went to but the atmosphere isn’t the greatest.
Husk was awesome and a must if you can swing it. And that fried bologna sandwich was a perfect late night snack.

The Prince's location on Nolensivlle Pike never has an absurd wait like the Dickerson Pike location. Plus they serve booze at the Nolensville Pike location.
As for beer:
Yazoo, Jackalope, Czann's, and TN Brew Works are all within walking distance of one another. Yazoo usually has at least one funky beer on tap. TN Brew works has a really nice taproom setup and decent beer to go along with it and live music. Jackalope is so so - Not bad, but not great. I haven' ever been to Czann's taproom, and I haven't been real impressed with their beers I've had out and about. Hops and Crafts is right down there too, if you're looking for a craft beer place to drink.
Craft brewed is a mile or two down 8th from the Gulch and is a good spot to grab some drinks on the patio. They do flights and have about 30 taps of good beer, so a good place to sample. Good bottle shop, but outside of the local stuff and a few midwest breweries, there isn't much that you can't get in LA.
Black Abbey Brewery isn't too much further away from Craft Brewed. It's small taproom in a giant brewery, but they make decent beer.
You have Southern Grist, Smith & Lentz, and East Nashville Brew Works. SG and S&L are both very solid. I haven't had any ENBW yet.
Bearded Iris is up in Germantown. I like their taproom and they make good NEIPAs. Honky Tonk Brewery is a little further north in Metro Center. Decent beer. Meh taproom.
Turtle Anarchy, Fat Bottom, and Blackstone taprooms are on the west side. I'd rank them Blackstone > Turtle Anarchy > Fat Bottom.
I think Little Harpeth has a taproom, but I've never been. Lagers only, but solid lagers.
If you somehow find yourself in Franklin, there is Cool Springs Brew pub and Mantra. CSB is pretty underrated. I grab lunch there a good bit and they always have good beer flowing. Mantra makes some crazy shite and always has a wide selection on tap.

Yea Catbird Seat is amazing, but it's a 3 hour dinner, and you better be early for reservations from what I recall.
It's one of my favorite restaurant experiences as it's like 15 small courses and you watch the entire experience over the kitchen

Hattie B's is legit. Peg leg porker for BBQ.

Came to say this. Sides we're really good, which makes BBQ for me. There's tons of places that can smoke good meat so I find places that the sides put it over the top.
