We did the Goldenpass from Interlaken to Montreaux. It was raining but still very scenic. I would recommend booking the 1st class cabin. We were very comfortable doing so and had large bags that we were easily able to store.
I’d be more embarrassed that I was caught at a Coldplay concert
Used it for damage to a rental car. They tried to deny it but I got someone on the phone and read them their reimbursement policy word for word where it stated that the damage was covered. She agreed and they paid.
Just look up their reimbursement policy and see if your situation is covered.
Knossos Palace was interesting. Basically an ancient city unearthed.
We did a wine and olive oil tour that ended at Titakis Winery where they cooked us a fresh, local 5 course dinner. It was awesome.
Also walked through Rethmynion. Fun town with good restaurants and cobblestone streets.
Crete is huge so definitely rent a car.
Just went in February. They weren’t cheap but Marine Room and Vita at Rock House were great. If you go to Vita get a sunset dinner. Amazing view. Also Da Conch shack for lunch
If the city has to install an entirely new meter (not just pop in a water meter into an existing box) it can get ridiculously expensive. The S&WB requires you to use one of a handful of contractors and I think they know they have you by the balls. I installed one 5 years ago for $4k. Recent estimates that I’ve seen are now double that. It’s insane.
We stayed in Chatham and thought it was a convenient, quick drive to pretty much any other spot on the Cape. There was a bike trail right behind our Airbnb that we used to explore the island and plenty food/grocery options close.
I’d recommend bouncing around to the different beaches too. In one morning we went to a crystal clear beach, a beach with seals swimming off the coast and the foggiest beach I’ve ever been too, all within an easy drive from Chatham. Pretty cool to experience that kind of variety in one area.
On the left of the fireplace in one of the pictures it looks like there is a tub/shower that backs up to the fireplace wall. If that’s the case, there is likely an open tub box on the drain side of that tub. That opening needs to be sealed by either pouring concrete in the opening or using foam. If it’s not sealed, the ground moisture could be causing condensation on that tub and causing the moisture/mildew smell.

Try the dinner with wine pairing at Titakis winery if you can get it. It was a great experience.
Masonry Products in Mid City sells it by the bag or will deliver a truck load

Santorini has many, easily accessible beaches especially if you stay around the middle of the island. Crete doesn’t but was our favorite island to visit. It’s huge so just a few days won’t put a dent in what you can do here. They have beaches but it’s very spread out. Can’t go wrong with either.
The conduits that are used aren’t necessarily moisture proof. I bet most floor outlets likely have moisture issues but the AC usually will remove that moisture regularly. Your rug is likely preventing the AC from removing the moisture. You can try to seal it with some expandable foam to see if that would work.
Just speaking from experience on these floor outlets. It’s not uncommon for there to be moisture within the outlet during construction because it’s below grade. Once the AC is turned on that moisture dissipates.
Do you place the rug on top of the floor outlet? If so, that could be trapping moisture within the outlet.
The contract is initially paid by either you or the builder and covers the house for a total of five years from slab pre-treatment. This is around $.25/square foot and includes pre-treating the soil under the slab before pouring concrete.

The termite company will then come out annually at a charge of around $200/year. The first visit (year 2) will include a perimeter treatment where they dig around the house and treat the perimeter. This can only be done after all construction and landscaping are complete so the soil will no longer be disturbed.

The remaining visits under contract (years 3-5) will cost the same $200 annually and will include an inspection for active infestations and a perimeter treatment but without the trenching.

After year 5 this whole process starts over and a new contract fee will be charged.

It’s up to you to stay with the company but their fees do seem a little high. If you choose another company you lose the pre-treatment contract that the initial termite company can offer.
Switched away from the single pod models back to the drip and have been very happy with this Ninja model. Can do a larger brew or a single brew with or without a filter.

I’ll second Hall’s. The food is great but the service and atmosphere are memorable. Worth a visit for sure.

Not sure if it’s the same program or not, but I signed up for a similar program with Entergy where they send you small rebates - around $50/year or so if you sign up. Problem was they have access to your thermostat and set the temperature remotely during high energy event days. For instance, during a particularly hot day they would override my thermostat and raise the temperature to 80 degrees to save energy. Canceled the program as soon as that happened.

re: Food in Crete?

We ate at Peskesi in downtown Heraklion. Would not recommend dining there though. Wasn’t impressed with the food or the atmosphere. If you’re in Rethymion I can highly recommend Achinos Rethmyno. Delicious food and great service.
We also toured the Titakis winery and, as part of a wine and olive oil making tour, we had a five course dinner at the winery. That was the best meal we had in Crete.
Went last summer. The entire cape is easy to explore and that’s what we did, going from beach to beach. Our favorites were the beach by the Chatham lighthouse and there’s one going up the cape that was known for having seals. Had to pay and take a tram to that one but we did see a few seals and the kids loved it.
There’s also a Treehouse brewery in Sandwich that is very picturesque and the kids climbed on the rocks on the seashore - you need to make a time and day reservation for that though. We ate at a few of the seafood restaurants like Macs Chatham fish and lobster but weren’t too impressed. Lots of fried foods.
It’s a great time. Make sure to swim in the Aegean. Freezing but worth it. Also if you’re in Oia go by The Boozery at the main entrance behind the church. Great drinks.
