What would you recommend for 8 old white people going to an Indian place that have never tried any of this.

At Bombay Dreams, the owner, Rajiv, is usually working the floor and is very helpful especially with adjusting the spice level to everyone's liking. Some of the best things to order for first timers there are:
1. Garlic Naan (flat bread)
2. Chicken Korma (chicken in a yogurt and cashew gravy)
3. Chicken Tikka Masala (tomato cream gravy)
4. Kasmiri Pulao (Indian version of Jambalaya with green peas, carrots and beans)
5. Bhindi Masala (stewed okra and tomatoes)
6. Seekh Kebab (ground lamb with ginger garlic and herbs, cooked in a Tandoor oven)
7. Dal Makhani (lentils in cream and tomato sauce)
I hope you like it.

Chicken Tikka Masala with naan bread is good.
Roasted chicken in a sort of creamy gravy type red sauce. I kinda scoop it up with the bread (i feel like i saw that somewhere) and the bread is awesome.
I just started eating Indian food myself. This is definitely the gateway dish.

Bombay Dreams butter chicken is the best in the state. It is made with their tandoori chicken.

I see garlic naan everywhere. Very rarely do I see ginger naan like I did in the North. Ginger naan > garlic naan, even though garlic naan is the sheet.

I had some Indian food in Birmingham a while back and though I'm not a Cajun, I can usually handle some heat. I asked for something with a good but of heat and the waitress said she would take care of me and had them prepare the way they do for themselves... big mistake. I ate it but my goodness. Never again. The next day was torture.

Good advice above on dishes to try. I've been a couple times for the lunch buffet. That's a good way to try things if you are new to it.

Been wanting to try that place out considering I drive by it everyday. My sister said it's good. Told me to go during lunch because they have a buffet and I can figure out what I like and don't like.
