Nonna Randazzo's makes fried pies, but the crust isn't great, and there's less filling.

Interesting, because the woman in the thread who posted it said the exact opposite

Based on no knowledge other than how stuff seems to be going. I’m guessing Ida destroyed whatever they had built of Hubig’s.

How can Hola Nola be cranking out tortillas a month after their factory went crispy shell and Hubigs can’t make a pie years later?

As kid I always got the lemon because I didn’t like the texture of cooked apples.

Can’t wait to get a Hubigs apple pie now.

Sure. What flavor pie you want with that beer?

Good question. I can't say I ever consumed them together. Hell, it feels like I was barely of drinking age last time they were on the shelf :P

I'll take a chocolate mythical pie.

Bump...

Almost 1 year ago, Hubig's was a matter of months away, I guess they meant more than 10 months!

Return of Hubig's Pies getting closer.

Everything came to a screeching halt in this God-forsaken city. Drive Shack is supposed to resume construction this summer but there is no way that ever happens. It took 3 years to get a fricking pizza hut built and open in Algiers.

My man, you've promised me pies were around the corner for years, my patience has run thin.

My brother-in-law who is now deceased would come to N.O. from Atlanta a couple times a year and always ask if Hubig's was back in business and making pies, and if not, when would they start back up.

From the look of things, his 20 something year old kids may not live long enough to taste one of those fried pies their dad was so fond of.

Maybe they are having trouble duplicating the magic?

Can we have this thread removed? I have too many emotions for them to play with every time this subject comes up and the promise/lies of Hubig pies coming....Let's just let it die

It's fun watching that thing crumble in on itself more and more each day, though.

Typical New Orleans / Louisiana politics.

The Drive Shack plans were announced in April 2018.

The plans fell in limbo this April when it surfaced that officials with Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and the Exhibition Hall Authority were in talks with Topgolf, a larger and more established competitor. Topgolf sought to build a facility roughly three miles away on a piece of the 47-acre tract of land next to the convention center.

The surprise deal-making sparked outcry, including from Jaeger, who led the investor group in the 2016 purchase and helped bring Drive Shack to New Orleans. A week later, Gov. John Bel Edwards publicly quashed the deal. Crews resumed tear-down work at the Howard Avenue site in early June.
