The lineup of flavors will be the same as before, with apple, lemon, peach, pineapple, chocolate and coconut prepared year round. Seasonal flavors will also return to the roster for limited runs, including blueberry, blackberry, cherry and sweet potato.

Does anyone else think people remember these as being a lot better than they were? Or is the nostalgia the main driving force behind the craze?

I loved a warm apple with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but that was only once or twice a year.

No, I've had some of the knockoffs and they don't come close or compare.

They're one of those things that are both amazing and overrated. They're not necessarily as mind-blowingly-amazing as some purport them to be, but they are fricking delicious.

I'm so ready to be reminded why I didn't eat many in the first place

It's a once every so often type of item. Will be glad that my kids will now be able to experience them.

That's how I think of them too. Like a Barq's Vanilla Cream Soda. Something you have to experience, but won't live up to any hype you try to put on it.

Just waiting to see people disappointed when they get to re-experience the pies.

I ate them more as a kid and usually bought the fried pies with the sugar coating on them and passed on the small, round baked pies Hubig makes.

I probably only ate 2-3 a year once I got to be an adult, and mostly out of nostalgia and not that I found them one of those "had to have" things.

I was a kid in the 50's and by the mid 60's I was a teen. I could get a Hubig pie and a Big Giant Cola that was one of the first 16 oz. sodas as far as I can recall, for $.20 + tax. They cost a dime each.

Another favorite of mine was called "Stage Planks" that came 2 to a pack and were made like gingerbread and had a hard icing on top in either white or pink.

My wife recently surprised me with a bag full of Long Boy Coconut Candy rolls, one of my all time favorites as a kid. They still tasted the same as I remember, but I surely couldn't eat them like I use to.

I read it the exact same way he did. Maybe clarify that sentence? Or don't.

Remember the first time they were going to reopen and took money from a bunch of people to raise funds? They promised a case of pies to everyone that bought in. They never reopened and kept the cash. Wonder if they will make good on that?
