Ah gotcha. My grandparents retired in Anacortes so I used to be up in that area a ton. There are some good places in Anacortes and in the San Juan/Victoria/Vancouver area.
I've never even been down to Olympia. That sucks you should open up a place. Every West Coast city needs a good ciopino spot.

North Carolina pulled pork in restaurants, whether butt or whole hog, can easily be surpassed smoking a butt at home. I've been to more than a dozen places across that state and many of them taste like they're just baked, not smoked.

Mason’s Grill is below average and dirty. I’d rather eat at Waffle House.
Other than margaritas, the best thing they make at Superior Grill is tortilla soup.
The best ramen in Baton Rouge is the Tonkatsu Spicy at Jinya.
I would rather get a steak and sides at Doe’s than at Ruth’s Chris.
Bistro Byronz is not great. The cassoulet I ate there wasn’t as good as the one I made at home.
The only reason to go to Zippy’s is to get frozen drinks. The food is not good.

For any of you baws who have the misfortune of eating in Oklahoma. All the food here really sucks; you'd think the close proximity to Texas would mean they have good BBQ and good Mexican good, but you'd be wrong. The only claim to fame in Oklahoma is the Onion Burger, which is exactly what it sounds like - a burger with way too many grilled onions piled on it.

Mayo completely negates the joy of a new orleans roast beef poboy. Gravy only

Domilese's Roast Beef poboy is terrible.

Mine for BR:
The "atmosphere" that people love about Gino's, sucks. Place needs a renovation badly.

For philadelphia...
Everything here except Italian sucks.

As someone who loves cooked onions, that onion burger from Nic’s in OKC did not disappoint. Was worth the stop and the wait.

100% agree. Nothing about the place is that good. Fried Shrimp are OK, but Parkway is way better.

For me in BR:
Nino's>>>>>>Gino's. Not saying the food at Gino's isn't good, but like someone said earlier the atmosphere is such a downer maybe that affects, my overall meal experience.

I will say, Haywood Smokehouse in Dillsboro is excellent and the best I had in NC. It's brisket is even on par with a great Texas bbq restaurant.

Billy's boudin is NOT overated. Don's is.
Agreed. I was a Best Stop person and Billy’s line is always rough, but there’s no substitute (especially the pepper jack boudin balls).

I feel like I’m always posting about this, but have you tried Rachael’s Cafe?

Grant Pinkerton serves the best BBQ and ranch waters in Houston.
Bobby Heugel is a huge pussy.
UBPreserv is the best restaurant in Houston...pre/during/post COVID.

I think a Philly hot take would be that the big name cheesesteak places are pretty average.
I would put Angelo's cheesesteak up against any food item in the country, tho.
In general, I think Philly does bread and sandwiches really well.

Philay's has terrible food and I don't understand how they are still open.
Jambalaya festival jambalaya sucks balls. (I know, most agree)
Marlins has the best pizza in Ascension. Fight me.

True, philly sandwhiches and bread are pretty good but usually Italian style bread so I lumped them in.
I like a cheesesteak (Steve's is pretty solid) but won't go out of my way for one and never crave it.
Now Restaurant Pesto in south philly is one of my favorite places ever.

Meches donuts are possibly the most overrated food item in Acadiana.
The doughnut is the nadir of the good eats graph. I probably haven’t eaten one in 10 years.

I don’t mind Meche’s donuts (I like their boudin kolaches) but I would probably never go there if we still had a Krispy Kreme.
