re: Carli Lloyd Nails 55yd FG - timbo
If I was the GM of an XFL team, I would offer a high-profile women's soccer player a contract, just for shits and giggles. Maybe you would get a few more butts in the stands or get a little coverage on SportsCenter if you had Alex Morgan or Megan Rapinoe on the roster. ...

re: Paula Dean restaurant chain flailing - timbo
frick her and her pillow biting sons. Well, that isn't very nice. What did she do to you?
She's a caricature of the worst, most tired arse lazy cliches about the South. A racist old white lady who loads her dishes down with fat and sugar. The South and southern food is a lot mor...

re: Spiderman officially out of MCU - timbo
If such a shite stain of a movie can make that kind of dough, nothing surprises me.
I gave up on that movie after 15-20 minutes. If I were Tom Hardy, I would be livid that it made so much money I had to do a sequel. Although he kind of sleepwalked through that movie. ...

re: Spiderman officially out of MCU - timbo
That sucks. How fast you think it will take for the MCU to plug in Tom Holland as the new Iron Man?...

re: I’m a classic rock fan but I can’t stand KISS - timbo
I came to the realization a while back that unless Ace Frehley or Vinnie Vincent was involved, Kiss kind of suck. (And you have to chuck out some of those later makeup albums cuz Ace was too busy being an alcoholic to contribute) They were the only two decent musicians in the band....

re: NOLA restaurant recommendations - timbo
We also had a nice meal at Lola's for my wife's 40th. It's a Spanish place. Quiet neighborhood joint. Good wine list, it's also next to a little market with a great wine selection. I think they're cool about you bringing bottles over. Great paella. http://www.lolasneworleans.com/...

re: NOLA restaurant recommendations - timbo
We swear by N7. We've had multiple nice meals there. It's a French place in the Bywater with a great wine selection. Off the beaten path -- you'll think you're in a French village. The mussels are great, the steak au poivre is really good. Depending on how much y'all drink, you should be able to get...

re: How has Leo only won one Oscar? - timbo
But she has 21 nominations and three Oscars! And she won an Oscar for Sophie's Choice in 82 and one for Iron Lady in 11. So she had a 29 year gap between awards. That just shows you how tough it is, even when you're getting a nomination practically every year. ...

re: How has Leo only won one Oscar? - timbo
It's tough to win one Oscar in an acting category, much less two. There are a lot of factors -- sometimes the Academy wants to spread awards around among multiple movies, sometimes they want to give an award to someone as a lifetime achievement award. You've got to be so great in multiple movies tha...
Whitey Ford didn’t injure his shoulder permanently in a bar fight IIRC.
There was a damn good story about him years ago. I think Brien Taylor ended up working construction somewhere, driving up to job sites in a sports car he bought with his signing bonus. I didn't think he got hur...

re: ULL football coach requiring scholarship players to donate to Ragin Cajun Athletic Fund - timbo
I get wanting players to have a buy-in with the university. But there are better ways of doing it than asking people to make donations. Encourage them to join campus organizations, do service projects on campus or in the community, or otherwise serve as ambassadors for the school beyond what they d...
This is the first I'm hearing about this
I dunno. I'm not saying it's going to happen. I just wonder if it's a possibility. Although it may seem likely you would open up more areas for cattle farming, like northern Canada, Siberia, etc. ...

re: Who do you wish you saw before it was too late? - timbo
Nirvana - they played at UNO in late 93, but I had a conflict and figured I would just see them at Lollapalooza '94. Sadly, Kurt Cobain had other plans David Bowie - I think he played at the Superdome when I was in high school, don't think he came anywhere near New Orleans after that. I would ha...

re: Anyone have the Impossible Burger at Burger King? - timbo
I also wonder if we will have such easy access to cheap beef in the future, with climate change. Or God forbid, you have a horrible outbreak of mad cow. To me, it's a way of these fast food places hedging their bets in case something awful happens. I used to be a fan of the Subway veggie patty. ...

re: When will the WNBA eventually cease to exist? - timbo
I can't imagine it's much of an investment for the NBA. Lord knows those players don't make any money. I can't see where it's a bad thing to have a professional women's basketball league in America. Dunno why it gets so much hate. You don't like it, don't watch. I have zero interest, other than liki...
