I live in GA and have no idea what wet lemon pepper wings are.
Originally made famous by Magic City and have spread throughout the state.
Magic City, for those of you unfamiliar, is a famous black strip club in ATL. Many great rappers have started their careers by being played over the speakers at that club. It's frequented by rappers and it's definitely 'raining' in there, quite a bit. They are also considered to serve some of the best wings in the state.
I've not tried the wet LP, but they're definitely a hot trend here.
Gumbo should be #3, at worst. Italian beefs are incredible, so I get that....but onion burgers? I lived in OK for a few years and I'd never even heard of, much less tried, an onion burger.

I'm in Atlanta. I have heard of lemon pepper wings and see them on menus, but would never associate them with Georgia, or rank them that highly.
Gumbo, crab cakes, Italian beef, onion smash burgers, and pork verde chile are all great -- and that crab cake looked perfect, almost all crab.
Seems like a better choice for Georgia would be peanut butter pie, which would not have won, but would at least make sense.

Ngl, that onion burger I had in OKC was absolute fiya. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I would 100% crush one right now, and an Italian beef sub is also awesome.
Never had the wet lemon pepper wings.

What happened to Georgia peaches? I would expect a peach dish to be listed.

Right. Like no way a cobbler doesn't beat out ghetto wings

What makes them ghetto?
They look really damn good.

what’s the difference between it and a good burger with grilled onions?

South Carolina produces more peaches than Georgia, but a peach cobbler or peach ice cream would have made more sense for Georgia.
I thought they ranked shrimp and grits too low.

Did you miss where they became popular in an Atlanta strip club?

His gumbo looks like shite. I don't know if he overcooked the chicken or stirred the crab meat way too much, but something protein was very stringy in there.

Everything on YouTube/Google references the show Atlanta as making them known more widely. I posted a link on the first page. They didn’t even call them wet lemon pepper at the restaurant, the show made a name change from fester wings.

It's a smash burger. The onions are sliced super thin then added to the top of the patty after you smash it and before you flip it. Get your crust then flip...

Lay the buns on top to steam then pull when the onions start to char

I'd rate gumbo over this too but a good Ok Onion burger is freaking delicious.

Lou Williams “strip club wet lemon pepper wings.” Atlanta, of course.

Agreed that is a dumbass reason. But can we agree that those shitty wet nasty wings are a dish about as devoid of refinement, flavor or soul much as Atlanta itself, and thus a perfect choice. Barf

an Atlanta thing. Like really, really big in ATL.
Never even heard of it.
Based on that it might be really big.
But it’s not really really big.

So something millions of people in every state make?
It seems to me that most people in this thread are missing the whole point of the list.
It’s not supposed to represent the state necessarily. It was a contest and these dishes won.

Nah, it was click bait and the site owner won.

like the Chicago beef sandwiches a lot, but they are another thing that don't strike me as being that special.
But they are not better than gumbo

I feel like I'm missing something here. I had an Italian beef sandwich at Portillo's in Chicago and it was basically just a pot roast sandwich with peppers and jus. What's not to like?

I just don't like how he made it a land and sea gumbo. But hey, cook how you want.
