Po'boys are appropriate if you need to clean out your fridge and make something quick and easy.
No idea why your fridge is in disarray but po-boys are always appropriate.

Who has a good lobster roll recipe? Last year I experimented with my left over crawfish and tried my hand at a crawfish roll. Played around with a couple of recipes which were all good, just could not get it right.
This year I did not have leftover to experiment. TIA

It's only once per year or so.
The only positive thing about a po'boy is the bread it's on. Other than that, it's a nasty mess.
Give me a lobster roll any day.
Or barbecue. Barbecue>seafood.

Sammich on Maple used to have a good one but I think they closed down.

Listen, I'm Cajun, and grew up in Cajun country, so I know that this isn't really a question. That said, I arrived on Martha's Vineyard one Friday evening and purchased a $10 lobster roll at a nearby church. The winner is clear, but it's closer than you think to call.

The one lobster roll Ive eaten was beyond overrated. I had my hopes up and was very let down.

St. Arnold Brewery actually serves a mighty good crawfish roll.

I imagine if you posed this question on a board that isn't biased toward Louisiana cooking the results would skew more toward lobster roll.

most prob have not had (or never) a decent Nola poboy either so the baseline would be skewed.

Most people haven't had a decent Maine lobster roll either, so that kind of negates your point. They are both very region-specific and it's hard finding good examples of these sandwiches outside of those regions.

I have had one in Nola at misc places including Legacy on Veterans when they were there.

Kind of a theory vs in practice thing for me
In my head, a perfect lobster roll beats a perfect po boy.
But I don't want a lobster roll every day or every other day, whereas I could eat a great po boy with regularity.

Poboy every day.
Got a couple lobster rolls in Maine. Got the second one just to make sure the first one wasn't a fluke. Wasn't that great either time. Disappointed.

If this is the kind of po-boy you are eating, no wonder you chose Lobster Roll. I wouldn't choose one of your out of date fridge po-boys either.

It's one thing to answer the OP's question. After all, we're talking food.
But when you make comments like the above, you comment more on yourself than on po-boys.
I share your affinity for seafood and BBQ, but when did a shrimp, or catfish, or oyster po-boy become non seafood?

I like the poboy bread more than the what I can remember from lobster rolls.

I had enough lobster rolls to last a lifetime last summer, in three states no less. Give me a shrimp poboy any day.
I get why you are saying that but I really think objectively, the average american would prefer a roast beef or shrimp poboy over a lobster roll.
