Lobster roll is so overrated. Poboy in a landslide

Ive had lobster rolls in Maine and they don't compare to a poboy.

Touché. But my point about the sloppy Joe remains.

The style of bread? The way it’s traditionally dressed? I’m not saying we’re comparing fish to turnips here, but those are differences.
Also, a sloppy Joe or pulled pork sandwich is focused on the meat. Cant make a pulled pork sandwich with shrimp. A poboy is a style of sandwich where the meat is interchangeable (to a degree)
Not all po boys are on Leidenheimer bread. Obviously, the good ones are.
Also, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and mayo are extremely common ingredients to dress a sandwich with.
I'll give you shrimp and oyster, but I don't think a roast beef poboy is too different than any other sandwiches.
ETA: To my original post, I'm a shrimp po boy fan through and through; however, I'll admit, I'm taken back by the overwhelming support for the po boy over a lobster roll. I know it's a Louisiana/LSU site, but I assumed we'd have maybe a 1/3 split in favor of the lobster roll.

The lame bread of a lobster roll makes it clearly the loser.
A soft, pillowy, buttery bun? What else would you pair it with? You certainly wouldn't want anything toasted or crunchy...

A pulled “pork” sandwich’s meat is interchangeable? Interesting …

The better question would be hot lobster roll or chilled lobster roll.
A seafood po-boy is the superior sandwhich, but if eating outside in the sun during the dog days of summer I'd order the lobster roll first.

Still an easy answer - hot lobster roll
But man, I’d give up lobster rolls forever if it meant I could get my hands on true New Orleans french bread.

Kind of tough question. A good Maine lobster roll, warm with butter, is really hard to beat. It'a not complicated or even difficult to make. I've had a lot more po boys and if I could only have one for the rest of my life, put me in the po boy camp. There is something exquisite about the blend of lettuce, tomato, pickles and fried shrimp or oysters. It just works, in the same way a Cuban sandwich just works.
One Cajun/Creole place I used to go to made a hamburger po boy. He used good bread, shaped the patty to fit the bread, and dressed it like a regular po boy, with remoulade sauce. Best burger ever.

Hot, no contest.

Never had a Lobster Roll. Looks good.
I think though by looks alone I’d prefer a good Roast Beef Poboy.
Addendum: Muffalatta beats the poboy so...

Shrimp poboy from Peck's in Slidell FTW!

Po'boys are appropriate if you need to clean out your fridge and make something quick and easy.

Why cant we have a lobster poboy?
Posted on 6/1/21 at 9:03 am to GentleJackJones
While I do enjoy it, lobster is extremely overrated. It’s pretty much flavorless other than the melted butter it has to be served with to make it appetizing
Yes, this is my hot take of the day

Are there any places in New Orleans to get a hot buttery lobster roll so that I can decide this question for myself?
