Which sandwich do you prefer? A New Orleans style, stuffed po boy - either fried shrimp, fried oyster, or roast beef, or a New England overstuffed lobster roll?

Two different animals. Not comparable. I like both. Depends on what I want at the time.

I live in Boston and have had lobster rolls throughout MA and Maine. Both cold and hot. I greatly enjoy a good lobster roll.

the answer, unequivocally and without hesitation, is a poboy.

I mean, it’s not even close.

I think the cold variant with Mayo is gross, but a hot, buttery lobster roll is amazing.

I'd prefer a poboy because I'm from New Orleans.

But come on. They're not that different. Bread, fatty sauce, and meat. A lobster roll might as well be a poboy.

Lol no it’s on a modified hot dog bun

If that’s the case then a quesadilla is a poboy

agreed..

Though I tend to think of a lobster roll as something I'd eat on occasion... but a poboy is more of a any day kind of sandwich...

So is a sloppy Joe basically a poboy? Pulled pork sandwiches?

I get what you’re saying, but how different, really, is a roast beef po boy than the aforementioned?

The lame bread of a lobster roll makes it clearly the loser.

The style of bread? The way it’s traditionally dressed? I’m not saying we’re comparing fish to turnips here, but those are differences.

Also, a sloppy Joe or pulled pork sandwich is focused on the meat. Cant make a pulled pork sandwich with shrimp. A poboy is a style of sandwich where the meat is interchangeable (to a degree)

The bread used in a lobster roll is awesome. Just not New Orleans French bread awesome.
