Sorry if this has been posted on this board many times before, but was curious if anyone had any good recommendations for the best Andouille Sausage for gumbo available at grocery stores in BR. Been on a gumbo kick lately and was curious if anyone had any good info. Thanks in advance!

If in BR, go to Iverstine Butcher and get their andouille.

When I was in Lake Charles, I always used Rabideaux’s and loved it.

Used Rouse’s brand smoked andouille last weekend and while it tasted fine, it was very fatty and fell apart when sliced relatively thin. Do not recommend.

Veron's sausage from the supermarket in Lutcher is better than the mass produced Veron sausage sold in other stores.

Hate Veron's casing. Good smoky flavor though.

not really but I have found that my last two gumbos were my best and strongly believe its because of this andouille

Gotta cut Veron’s out the casing imo

I’ve been using the Hogs for the Cause smoked sausage in lieu of andouille lately. I like it better than any andouille tbh

Chisesi vip has been my go to. It has a very unique spice combo. Hogs for the cause (also done by Chisesi) was my favorite, but my rouses doesn't carry it anymore

The Large Andouille casing from Veron is synthetic. It's been made that way for a long long time. It's supposed to be removed when preparing. It is edible but its tough and doesn't cook well at all.

Just make a small cut down the length of the piece and then just pull it off.

Hard to find good andouille in DFW. Savoie's about the best I can find.
