Anybody tried the Best Stop Andouille? I see that it’s available at Rouses now. Does it have a weird casing?

Benoit's in Addis has good Andouille.

I've used Hillshire Farms, Richard's, Savoie's, real smoked andouille from Bailey's in Laplace. If I have Bailey's on hand, I'm using that above all others.
For the past year I've been making my own andouille and have been pleased with the results and use that in lieu of Bailey's. It cost me considerably less to make my own and it's not a 50 mile round trip to get it.

Yep, just like getting almost any type salami cut at a deli or in a supermarket. That outer skin is not edible and every once in a while a new employee will forget to remove the casing before slicing.
That shite will gag you in a heartbeat.

No reason to use Verons or French Settlement when you can buy Best Stop at Rouses. Although, I don’t think it’s quite as good as getting out of the case there…. It’s still better than those 2.
I’m not saying Verons or French Settlement is bad…. But it’s not Best Stop by a long shot. You also have to take Best Stops casing off.

I've been using Kartchner's smoked green onion sausage often lately in gumbo. I like it a lot and especially in turkey gumbo. I like their smoked boudin as well.

Not sure what your options are in BR, but if you wanna do this right here's how:
Get a cooler.
Head west on I-10.
Exit 97 to Kartchners and grab some boudin egg rolls and a boudin ball or 2.
Back on I-10W to exit 44.
Head south just over the Jeff Davis-Calcasieu parish line - on your left.
Fill your cooler 75% with Rabideaux's smoked andouille.
Head home on I-10E.
Exit 97 to Billy's.
Fill the remaining 25% with Billy's smoked boudin. And grab a couple of jalapeno boudin balls for the road.
Your family deserves this. Send me a thank you note.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving

Jacob's world famous andouille sausage in LaPlace is the best hands down....

Chris's Specialty Foods has a location in Frisco at the Tollway and Stonebrook.
It's as authentic as you can get.

I’m in Lafayette and I’ve been using Johnson’s Boucaniere’s smoked garlic pork sausage.

I've eaten Jacobs. We're talking taste so to each his own but for the best sausage, andouille, and boudin head to the Cajun prairie, not the River Parishes.
Teets (Ville Platte), Kartchners (Krotz Springs/Scott), and Rabdideax's (Iowa) are better than the River Parish offerings.

Wayne Jacob’s is not. They got a lot of damage but they’re working towards reopening.
His cousin down the street just called Jacob’s is open.
IMHO Wayne Jacob’s is better but Jacob’s is still great and blows anything in a grocery store away.
