I have a friend in the publishing business that said the word on the street is GRRM hasn't written a full chapter in over a year.

I cant believe that. I know he is lazy but not even a chapter in an entire year?? That is next level fat assery and laziness.

Especially with fricking Covid.

I’ve given up on Him ever finishing the books. If the election is driving his anxiety, He will probably have a heart attack in the next few weeks. I’m hoping someone in his family will sell the rights after he passes so an author can step in and finish.

Searched but didn't see this topic (and can't read 1,000 pages).

Doing my first re-read - 10 or so years after my initial read.

Is it possible the Westerlings use a love potion on Robb at Tywin Lannisters behest/planning?

In my initial read, I thought it possible they used something on Robb. Now in my re-read I'm thinking it was a Tywin plan -

Background -

- Jeyne Westerlings grandmother was a maegi (almost certainly the one, though I don't recall confirmation, who plays a big part in Cersei's journey)
- Jeyne's mother has made a potion for Jeyne to drink daily to help get her pregnant from Robb, indicating she has some of the skills (at the very least)
- Robb Stark was injured storming the Crag (Westerling Castle) and was attended to by Jeyne. Easy enough for her (or her mom) to give him a love potion under the guise that it was a healing one.

Clinchers -

- Tyrion's thoughts go out of their way to discuss how Tywin treats bannerman who betray him.
- Tywin did not seem mad about the Westerling betrayal, which surprised Tyrion
- Very specific mention of Tywin almost smiling - this really calls attention to things.
- Finally, when the Westerlings are called fools, and this is when Tywin almost smiles, he says "The greatest fools are ofttimes more clever than the men who laugh at them." That has a clear implication that there is more going on.

Maybe this was obvious and I'm just an idiot who missed it first time through.

I believe Tywin was in touch with Jeyne’s mother, however, i think she was giving Jeyne Moon tea instead of fertility herbs. Tywin knew Rob would lose the Frey’s for the insult to their honor. He knew the Frey’s would be out for revenge and had his eyes on the wolf pelts.

Yeah I've read through this theory as well and Ive bought into it. If you're doing a re-read you check out the chapter by chapter write ups here. They do a really good job covering all these theories and i found all the obvious hints at Tywin's plans throughout the books really interesting

I just don’t think Tywin would believe in such a thing like a love potion. Nice theory, but just given who Tywin is I doubt it.

Not sure about the whole love potion thing but I thought it was pretty obvious that Jeyne was a Tywin plant to seduce Robb.

Do you need a love lotion with a sixteen year old boy? Just put him alone with a cute and willing girl and the deed gets done. And Ned Stark's son is too honorable to hit and quit.
