I think what's most surprising to me is just how quickly things went to shite once progressive policies started getting implemented in earnest in these cities.

I said it in so msmy words on the first page, but these cities want "equity" so badly, and since the flunkies will never be able to carry their load up to the levels of decent folks' level, the only other way to make it all "equitable" is to bring down everyone to the lowest form.

My father was a piss poor man when he was alive. Truly believed Democrats were better for poor people. I swear they could have came in his house, confiscated his TV, money and guns and still would have voted for them the next cycle

This is my FIL, he's 85. He complains about the state of the country, but watches CNN every night and talk about how evil "it appears" a lot of white people are, and votes straight ticket.

I visited in 2018. It was fun, and Muir Woods was amazing. But hardly the "most beautiful" city ever.

As noted, Pelosi is retiring in Fla. after just purchasing a $25,000,000 mansion. Guess she's wanting to go maskless in her remaining days.

Thanks Ed. I’d seen those stories here but wasn’t sure if there was more to it.

The left is truly the opposite of everything they claim. Socialism is not progress. It is regression to a system that predates capitalism.

Something awful happened to us in the 20th century.

In art there was a sharp shift away from beauty, and towards ugliness. It was sudden.

Modern art doesn’t lift you up. It doesn’t inspire you. It’s designed to degrade you, or make you feel uncomfortable.

It happened in architecture simultaneously. Art Deco happened, and then beauty died as an ethos.

Look at brutalism.

Leftism is makes the same basic rejection of beauty.

Rather than inspire people to do more, and elevate themselves, it apologizes for their ugliness. It comforts and accepts the squalor of their lives. Leftist policies almost invariably destroy good moral behavior and undermine the foundations of society.

Discipline, charity, courage. They become sins.

I still remember my parents taking me to a Japanese tea garden there when I was a child. It was a wet misty day, and we sat in an Japanese style house, it was open on all four sides. The air was cool. It felt like an out of this world experience to me.

It rejects common sense in today’s world, and anyone that agrees with this type of foolishness is a damn fool.

I haven't been in 4 years, but the decline from when I went 11 years ago vs. 4 years ago was obvious and disturbing.

The drug usage and homeless situation is a complete and total moral failure by city leadership.
