This is what the Democrats want. Create a feeling of helplessness to where the populace will accept any governmental action.

That is exactly what is going on. The left are letting their voters run wild on America's cities to be able to use that as proof that more govt is needed.

I’ll begin by saying that I find the interest in this city from people who don’t live in San Francisco extremely fascinating.

i'm not defending what's going on in the bay area or California as a whole, but this is funny when you consider half of these people live in Baton Rouge

Scruffy is interested and cares because you progressives are like locusts.

It would not be an issue if the flow of individuals was towards these progressive utopias, but it isn’t.

The flow is outwards to feed off of other areas, turn them into rehashes of the places they ran from, before the locusts move on to somewhere else.

If these locations were such wonderful places to live, why aren’t people flocking to live there?

Progressives should stay in their utopias and leave everyone else alone.

They will NEVER stop voting Democrat.

Austin is turning into this as we speak because of Democrats.

State and local officials have allocated surplus funds and federal funds to address homelessness and that is definitely something that needs to done and done properly.

Y'all just passed a $1 billion/year tax in the city a few years ago specifically for this. Are you telling me that a billion dollars a year dedicated to bums isn't enough?

Goddamn, you people are incredible

And we are watching Democrats destroy our city as well.

Nothing funny about any of it at all.

I say this as someone who voted Democrat for over 2 decades until I finally woke up.

Exactly.

They are locusts, a plague.

They create policies that they ultimately find they cannot live with, then move to a new location to repeat the same process after they leave the mess they created.

It’s amazing how short sited and ignorant most people are.

Why should we care what’s happening to our neighbors? We’re on the exact same path just a little behind them so why should we pay attention at all?

I beg to differ.

The Progs in SF are extremely jealous of our murder rate. We are at least winning that one.

Californians want every state to be like theirs.

Its the model of progressivism. Tech overlords, and poor people.

You should hear what Californians think of cities outside of their state. They have very strong opinions.

Dude when you rent a car at SFO they have a huge pre-written speech about how to properly hide things in your car so the windows don't get smashed. Not talking about the out of control property crime is exactly how the city has started sucking so bad. You get what you vote for though so hope you enjoy the boarded up windows and car break ins.

Every major city faced the pandemic, yet very few have seen the dramatic and negative changes SF has. There is a reason for that, and much of your post feels like "explaining it away".

I'm sure it feels like people will always want to move there, it'll always be great and desirable, etc...but I liken your attitude to sports teams who think they will always be good and can't imagine it taking a turn for the worse despite their stars aging, salary cap issues, front offices getting lazy...and then all of the sudden they suck and are super surprised.

Its just so hard to believe a once gorgeous city has turned into a shithole in such a very short time.

It starts in San Fran and LA, then moved across the country. progressives are like locusts.

Will go to Community organizations under the political umbrella and enrich individual activists.
