Walmart just rolled out driverless trucks, and Amazon and others are also trialing the technology. These people are literally watching their jobs disappear and they're taking off months because they made enough money?

Tell me you don't deal with truck drivers without telling me you don't deal with truck drivers.

Unfortunately a good bit of them have this mentality, then will get nervous when things get slow. For several years we had a driver hired that wanted to make X amount of revenue per week, if he hit that revenue on Wednesday he wouldn't work the rest of the week. Stupid, I know, but this is the way some of these guys operate.

This notion that AI will completely take over the trucking industry in the near future is some of the dumbest shite being pushed.
Even assuming AI can complete the drive from point A to point B there will still need to be a driver in the truck to take over where AI cannot navigate. AI will not load the truck, AI will not secure the load, AI will not tarp a load, etc etc. There's more to being a truck driver than holding a steering wheel for 11 hours a day.

If they're literally offering $10k/week, I could make my salary in 6 weeks. Pay for my current benefits in 8 weeks. And change my financial situation every week after that.
And I think I saw some dude on Tik Tok getting laid in the back of the Amazon truck last week.
Please show me where to sign up.

The problem there is half these drivers don’t think long term. The other half have a spouse nagging them to be home for holidays (which I can appreciate) because they have already made way more $ than any other year.

If 10K a week for 3 months is sustainable, I might just learn to drive a rig for 3 months a year and hang out 9 months. That is if I don't have to provide my own truck.
Seen it on the back of a big rig yesterday. $2,800 every week, after all expenses, no truck needed. I thought about it for a split second.

I’ll about to start trucking on the weekends.

Local grocery stores are starting pay at $17.50 an hour. Inflation will worsen too. Its going to get very nasty.

I deal with construction guys who have the same mentality. Work 60 hours a week for a few months, followed by not wanting to work at all, followed by begging for work, rinse/repeat.

Big difference between $10k a week and $10k a month

Remember back in august when Kamala said you better do your Christmas shopping now. It’s almost like this is all part of the elites plan to destroy this country and rebuild it as something they have total control over

True. Many of the manufacturers I work with are right here in the good ol US of A and they’re struggling to meet demand because of supply chain woes. We’re averaging 7 weeks lag time for inbound freight.

Yep, it’s about to get crazy bad. Been telling people since May because my job heavily relies on California ports. It’s been a disaster. Hope y’all have enough food.
