About how long is the CDL Process? Besides backing a rig up to a dock with rigs on both sides, Im about 77% confident I could do this job for 3 months without ending up on a Swift post.

You always need the money. These morons should be making bank while they still can.

Are the big rigs now equipped with automatic transmissions. If so, how hard could it be..

Poor planning like this is how you end up as a truck driver

I heard from a truck driver that you can get a CDL after a week in California. Stay away from 18 wheelers if you’re on the west coast

Just because the items you buy don't say made in China, doesn't mean some component of the "Made in America" item wasn't made in China. Or, somewhere else overseas faced with the same shipping issues.

That's not how it works.
A lot of the components in American made products are inported.

Some our newer tractors are automatic transmissions so yes. However, the computers in the trucks also has a log of every little detail such as if you were speeding, if you had to slam on the breaks at one point, seatbelt, etc.

I don't care how much truck drivers don't NEED the money, they would never pass this up.

i'd wager it's not so much that they don't need the money, but probably vaccine requirements on top of being pretty well paid.
my company just matched our best year ever in the middle of September and my boss has made it clear that we are pushing incredibly hard all the way into the week before Christmas and there will be 0 coasting. i love my job and i'm very well compensated so i'm good with it, but i understand the concept of "F it" in today's climate for a lot of these people.

Even with 10 Speed its not hard. I had my permit but never went do my road test. Its not hard to get a license, its hard to get someone to let you drive their $150,000 rig with no experience.

slam on the breaks
If I slam on my breaks, that's none of their business. I might have a good looking co-driver or get a hep-ridden lot lizard.
