Kiffin has been fired twice. So what?
By Saban, btw
But thanks for making my point. Again. Dabo fired Napier. Saban fired Kiffin. Neither should ever coach at LSU. If a NC winning coach doesnt want them around their program, why should LSU?

i like napier, just wanna see him finish. i think they go 10-2.
not my first choice, but would be happy with him as hfc at LSU.

Probably wasn't a "yes sur mister bossman Dabo" type guy.

Why did you leave out that Dabo fired him? And then Dabo won the Coach of the year award, the very next year?
And that each time Napier left a Power-5 school as coordinator, their W/L record got better?. Much better in most cases
Several REALLY important details to 'forget', doncha think?
You are the guy who told me in a scoreboard thread about Jimbo Fisher that he had Matt Flynn winning the NC in 2007, and I quote; "Jimbo had that offense primed and ready, with 21 points being their lowest score because Flynn was out, injured. With Flynn at Qb (first time starter) LSU avg 45 pts a game. Thats all Jimbo. Not Miles"

Weren't you all over tRant and scoreboard pushing hard for Jimbo a couple days ago and making every excuse in the world for him?
So you want to ignore Jimbo's tanking of an FSU program and losing to Arkansas and Miss State THIS SEASON with superior talent, but Napier's distant past matters just because you said so

Saban did immediately hire Napier after Dabo fired him.

A few additional details about his career:
He coached alongside Dabo early in his tenure at Clemson, then he was promoted to OC when Dabo became the head coach.
Napier was the fall guy in 2010. Clemson didn’t have the offensive talent that season, and Dabo was feeling the heat in his second year as HC. In 2011 the Tahj Boyd era started, followed by Watson and Lawrence.
Saban then hired him as an analyst in 2011. Jim McElwain brought him to Colorado St. when he was hired as HC in 2012. Saban then lured him back the next season.
Herm Edwards tried to keep him as OC when he was hired at ASU, despite having no connections with him, but Napier took the Cajun’s job.
Both Dabo and Saban promoted him. Saban hired him twice in three years. Two other newly hired coaches wanted him on their first staff. Napier has the experience of being on the ground floor at Clemson with Dabo, as well as 5 seasons with Saban.
He checks a lot of boxes. He’s been around great programs. He quickly turned around ULL, then won 10 games for the first time in school history, and he’s maintaining that success. Plus, he’s only 42 years old.

Yeah, his first season he leads Clemson to their highest scoring offense ever and then fired the next season. Seems like a knee jerk reaction by Dabo. Boyd was a FR that second season and would have been Napier's QB in 2011 so he likely would have been credited with the success that following year.

Napier was high on my list before, but I think he is my #1 right now after this thread...barring pulling someone like a Lincoln Riley, which isn't happening.

people say can’t hire Napier because he’s at a G5 school but then go and claim they want Fickell
That's total bs. When's the last time Lafayette was top 5 ranked and defeated Notre Dame?

Riley would be great, but I just don't see a scenario where he would come here.
He's established at OU.
Has made the playoffs regularly.
He's paid very well. 2019: 5 year/32 Mil
OU is joining the SEC
He can regularly raid Texas recruiting
I wouldn't leave.

Dude get out of here with all this logic and fact....the Rant already told you that Napier sucks and is a shitty candidate....what more do you need?????

Posted in another thread but wanted to share my thoughts here too:
Napier has a plan, or in Saban talk, a process.
He’s been preparing for a big opportunity, one he can take on HIS terms.
He’s not going to take a job where he’s told which coaches he must keep or hire. He’s learned from the best ever in Saban. If your career is on the line don’t let others dictate to you how you’re going to implement your program. He’s going to want to be able to decide which color the football offices are painted up to and above who his defensive coordinator is.
Napier is connected in the football coaching world and respected. And he knows exactly who he’d want on his staff if he moved to LSU, with detailed fall back plans.
Woodward isn’t stupid. He’s hired some of the best. He was given a mission by the aTm money men to get Jimbo at any cost. So he did. But don’t think for one second that he isn’t intimately aware of Napier, his philosophy, his personal background, and what color underwear he prefers. And if HE thinks he’s ready to be the man at LSU he won’t hesitate for one second to hire him. Optics be damned.
Bill Belichick was fired in Cleveland. Sean Payton had his play-calling duties as OC stripped by Jim Fassel in NYG. Saban was headed to a possible firing in Miami. The fact that Napier was fired by Dabo doesn’t phase me.
Lastly, I know someone who’s coached with Napier including at ULL. He says Napier has a clear vision for building a program. He knows the value of continuity and prioritizes giving his coaches what they need to be successful and what they need to stay with him. The program he runs is a family, and he insists on being around people of high moral character. His coaches and players love and respect him. And probably the most exciting thing he’s told me is that Napier WANTS to compete against the best and beat the hell out of them. I took that as he’s not the kind of coach that wants to coach in the ACC because he’d have an easier path to a championship. He WANTS to run with the big dogs.
I’ll be thrilled if he gets the job.
And no, this is not Mrs. Napier.

Since today is Billy Napier day: Clemson (2003-04, 2006-10) quote: During Napier’s final two seasons at Clemson he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. At the age of 29, he became the youngest coordinator in the nation and in Clemson history. In his first season as Clemson’s coordinator, the 2009 Tigers scored a school-record 436 points and collected 54 touchdowns (third-most in school history), averaged 5.73 yards per play (fourth best) and finished as the ACC Atlantic Division champions. Quarterback Kyle Parker was named a Freshman All-American and nine players Napier coached from 2009-10 went on to have careers in the NFL. quote: Napier also served as Clemson’s recruiting coordinator from 2006-08. In those three seasons, he compiled two top-25 recruiting classes, according to Rivals.com, and in 2008, his class was tabbed as the second-best in the nation by ESPN.com. Known to his peers as a top recruiter, Napier signed several players who went on to the NFL Alabama (2011, 2013-17) Napier spent five seasons as the wide receivers coach. He coached Calvin Ridley and Amari Cooper and was WR coach during Bama's 26 game win streak from 2015-16. Arizona State (2017) OC/QB coach quote: In his first year with the program, Napier guided the Sun Devils’ offense to the 14th highest-graded offense in the FBS according to Pro Football Focus - including the 10th highest-graded passing attack in the nation. ASU was graded 54th in the nation in total offense last season and 86th in the passing game on the year. The offensive turnaround (+40 positions) was the eighth-largest in the FBS and ASU was one of just three programs to move from outside the Top-50 to inside of it in just one season. The 76-spot swing in the passing game rankings was the third highest in all of the FBS (second among Power Five schools). ASU developed one of the elite red zone scoring teams in the nation under Napier, tied for first nationally in converting on 95.83 percent of its red zone appearances (46-of-48) with the only two “blemishes” against the Sun Devils coming when the team took a knee late in the fourth quarter. ASU was 11th nationally in red zone touchdown scoring rate with 36 touchdowns on those 48 attempts (75.00). ULL (2018-present) Mark Hudspeth's final season at ULL was 5-7 Napier in his first season was 7-7 Since then he has a 26-5 record. His 2019 and 2020 11 and 10 win seasons are the first 10+ win seasons for ULL EVER. Napier has coached under Saban, Dabo and McElwain (Colorado St). He has a much stronger resume' than Kirby when UGA hired him. He's proven to be a good OC, WR coach, recruiter and HC. The more I look the more I like him as a candidate.
I wish I could upvote this 100 more times. Great research here Bayou!!

Coastals coach is another good one but he hasnt really improved their overall talent too much. Great coach thoguh and imo is similar to Mullens in that he out schemes peopel. Hard to do that in SEC. so no on coastal, would not change my opinion.
App State, yes it would. App State has a long history of success and their last two coaches have left to go elsewhere and havent had to rebuild app state like BN did at ULL, so yes it would change my opinion if from APP state.
