Since today is Billy Napier day:
Clemson (2003-04, 2006-10)
quote:

During Napier’s final two seasons at Clemson he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. At the age of 29, he became the youngest coordinator in the nation and in Clemson history. In his first season as Clemson’s coordinator, the 2009 Tigers scored a school-record 436 points and collected 54 touchdowns (third-most in school history), averaged 5.73 yards per play (fourth best) and finished as the ACC Atlantic Division champions. Quarterback Kyle Parker was named a Freshman All-American and nine players Napier coached from 2009-10 went on to have careers in the NFL.

quote:

Napier also served as Clemson’s recruiting coordinator from 2006-08. In those three seasons, he compiled two top-25 recruiting classes, according to Rivals.com, and in 2008, his class was tabbed as the second-best in the nation by ESPN.com. Known to his peers as a top recruiter, Napier signed several players who went on to the NFL

Alabama (2011, 2013-17)
Napier spent five seasons as the wide receivers coach.
He coached Calvin Ridley and Amari Cooper and was WR coach during Bama's 26 game win streak from 2015-16.

Arizona State (2017) OC/QB coach
quote:

In his first year with the program, Napier guided the Sun Devils’ offense to the 14th highest-graded offense in the FBS according to Pro Football Focus - including the 10th highest-graded passing attack in the nation. ASU was graded 54th in the nation in total offense last season and 86th in the passing game on the year. The offensive turnaround (+40 positions) was the eighth-largest in the FBS and ASU was one of just three programs to move from outside the Top-50 to inside of it in just one season. The 76-spot swing in the passing game rankings was the third highest in all of the FBS (second among Power Five schools).

ASU developed one of the elite red zone scoring teams in the nation under Napier, tied for first nationally in converting on 95.83 percent of its red zone appearances (46-of-48) with the only two “blemishes” against the Sun Devils coming when the team took a knee late in the fourth quarter. ASU was 11th nationally in red zone touchdown scoring rate with 36 touchdowns on those 48 attempts (75.00).

ULL (2018-present)
Mark Hudspeth's final season at ULL was 5-7
Napier in his first season was 7-7
Since then he has a 26-5 record. His 2019 and 2020 11 and 10 win seasons are the first 10+ win seasons for ULL EVER.

Napier has coached under Saban, Dabo and McElwain (Colorado St).

He has a much stronger resume' than Kirby when UGA hired him. He's proven to be a good OC, WR coach, recruiter and HC. The more I look the more I like him as a candidate.

shite.

And you’ve seen how adaptable he is at ULL where they don’t have a WB who can sling it everywhere.

I like The guy. The sell in a Sun Belt coach is hard, but he has them playing way above their level.
You can see a pure coaching effect

Noticeably absent from your breakdown of his Clemson experience is the fact that Dabo fired him. Why?

I like Napier a good bit, but we can't omit that he was fired from Clemson in his second year for putting out an absolutely atrocious offense.

But that's relatively minor, as he's been successful everywhere else and he looks very good turning ULL into the best team in Louisiana right now, sadly enough.

I’m not for or against either one, I’d just like to know why many on the board have a hard on for Fickell but spit at the idea of Napier.

Because of where he coaches and we have a staggering amount of low IQ fans

What has he done with his offenses after that experience? The way people look at hiring football coaches is so different than how good managers look at hiring people. To me I would look at what adjustments did he make after getting fired. How has he grown. The mistakes he made a Clemson will not repeat at LSU because he already understand what he did wrong and corrected it. Those are the people that make good, successful employees.

I want a person with 20 years experience, not 1 year of experience lived 20 times.

They didn't have a very good QB. There were also reports that Dabo was changing plays during the game without telling Napier. They finished ranked #86 in scoring which wasn't good, but they didn't have the talent.

This season Clemson's #2 ranked Soph QB and elite offense is ranked 112th in scoring. I wonder who Dabo is blaming this time.

I don't get why people hate napier.

He is a very realistic target.
