"That choice doesn’t seem so tough to me. ‘Vaccinated person having a heart attack? Yes, come right in, we’ll take care of you. Unvaccinated guy who gobbled horse goo? Rest in peace, wheezy.'"

As someone on the ground level treating all these covid patients in the hospitals I see patients at, I understand the frustration. I really do. When EVERYONE in the ICU is unvaccinated it immediately becomes obvious how preventable these cases are.
However, taking a step back from the emotion of the moment, most people in the ICU are there through their own doing. Obesity, smoking, heavy drinking, poor diets, lack of exercise…all choices that ultimately over time lead to people dying in the ICU. Where do we draw the line? I get that most of these diseases aren’t communicable, but everyone in the hospital has had it or been vaccinated at this point. I’m not really at risk treating these people, especially those on a vent as it’s a closed system with almost no risk of transmission.
So while I understand the sentiment, it’s logically incoherent when carried to its logical conclusion. We wouldn’t be treating hardly anyone anymore.
