We were the first ones in our neighborhood to get internet back after the storm because we still had dial up (my parents were too stingy to splurge for DSL

I don't remember what my old SN is from back then. I used it in college than kind of didn't use it for a few years...

I wasn't on TigerDroppings, but I do remember trying to text friends with a Nokia phone with a T9 keyboard and signing up with Earthlink dialup so I could try to get online whenever I could find a landline available. I had a PCMCIA WiFi card in my laptop, but WiFi wasn't really available many places.

I used hardcoreweather.com and it was exactly like this.. except for using a computer. It closed down last year, but i’m guessing the owner is here somewhere.

I did, but i recall not having separate boards then (or maybe it was before then).
I just remember posting something OTish once in the Rant and getting chewed out. I didn't even realized things had been separated.

I didn’t officially have texting as that was something you had to pay extra to be able to send out. Receiving was free. But texting was the only way to reach my employees. So I splurged and signed up to text a few days following Katrina. Those were the first texts I ever sent.
