re: Could Houston or DFW support a second pro sports franchise in the same league?
Posted by GoldenGuy on 8/18/26 at 5:06 am to Jim Rockford
Houston, probably not. Astros, Rockets, and Dynamo are all locked and located in the city’s center, and NHL is likely to face problems if they name a franchise anything but the ‘Aeros’. Your lone outside chance at two teams is moving the Oilers back from Tennessee, and I don’t think anyone wants that.
DFW, I think could get a team if they focus on the Dallas and Ft Worth split. But the Cowgirls and Rangers in Arlington stops that. I don’t see the NBA able to make that split with lack of talent, nor NHL able to make it without expanding to 50+ teams. Soccer probably could, but the USL already shoved their DFW team in Dallas.

Cool build
I have a few! I usually do Warhammer kits, but my kids have been getting more and more curious every time I get one out. They’re both 6, so a little too uncoordinated for glue. Gunpla is a little safer in that regard, but only the boy can keep the attention span.
I found these at Hobby Lobby, and the girl has fallen in love with building them.
These are Pokemon Quick Kits. It’s push off the Sprue quality and they push together on pegs. The Quick kits don’t have much in the way of pose-ability like the regular kits, but they make for a great office decoration (coworkers each have one now) and are like $10-15 each.
My other recommendation is more in line with Gunpla. Also had the fortune of buying and building a Zoids Shield Liger. Similar vein of not needing glue, a few of the pieces have a tough fit. However, unlike Gunpla, which has a tendency (for me at least) to not stay together when posing, this thing is very solidly built, and has survived 24 hour contact with the “enemy”. Definitely interested in picking up more.

Product of the local area. I can buy under $200k, but it was either built before Asbestos was outlawed, is in need of major repairs, or the neighbors are actively using meth.
Or I can do $300k and miss those.
But my issue isn’t the end price. It’s the 6.5+ Interest Rate
If I drank nothing before? Depends on how long the meal is.
Three drinks in an hour is enough to get me forgetting things.
Four drinks in three hours and I don’t feel it
