I was here for it all. Plenty of helpful threads along with the shitty ones. The looting threads were countless. Then the blaming game. It was Bush’s fault no it was Blanco’s fault.

I remember watching the levees fail live on here from news links and you just had the sinking feeling like, now it’s really bad. they were plucking people from roofs and then the convention center debacle. What a clusterfrick. It was sad all around.

In a sense it was eery watching certain posters disappear online as power outage was happening. We didn’t have the phones like today. Then it became where everybody was asking if so-n-so posted lately.

That’s when actually saw a soft side of Lester Earl. Deep, down, he’s a good guy. Sad to see some posters lose a lot like their homes and belongings.

I didn’t know about this place then. There used to be a hurricane forum on Nola.com that had a ton of useful information, as well as not, that I frequented in the weeks after Katrina.

I remember there was a guy, regular poster, I think he was from something like Pelican Point or something similar he said he was going to ride it out and was never heard from again.

I seriously thought we lost Lester Earl. He rode it out with elderly grandpa.

I was busy taking pictures of everything in my house, packing up everything irreplaceable (less than I thought), and bugging out to BR.
