Some phones worked but you had to be approved. They basically all but shut down cell service except for VIP peeps. Nextel worked like many are posting . Texting worked too but wasn’t used like it is these days.

Wow, I forgot about how different the internet was; I did not even know TD existed then, but I remember being on a chat with some colleagues at LSU, and the last thing typed was "See you on the other side.."

I remember someone posting something like Saints 3 Katrina Evacuees 10 and people getting really pissed off. I don't know why that of all things stuck with me but it did.

TD wasn’t a shell of what it currently is in 2005. There are a very few that have been around that long.

And back then you had to post on a PC. No ipads or smartphones

I had to walk 10 miles through the swamp just to post.

Excellent opportunity for research. Send us some nude pics of yourself and we’ll let you know what we do with them. Respect the science!

I don't remember posting here around Katrina time, I'm sure I did though......

I do remember I had a Nokia cell phone, and no service....but when I went through my Silverado with Onstar the phone service worked.

The OT covered Katrina and Deepwater better than any news organization. We talk a lot of shite here but when it matters this place is filled with salt of the earth genuinely decent people.

Watched it go down from my cubicle in Tampa, Fl. Felt scared and helpless while it played out in front of me. TD was very helpful as phones were down for days.
