Seeing it up close is jarring. You’ll send an email to 6 people and after a day nobody will reply. Then you follow up and they forward it another 6 people and the “tag you’re it” game starts and nothing ever gets done.

I’ve seen so many people start out of college with AT&T, make a shite ton of money and retire with 30 years and a full pension in their early 50s. It’s an amazing scam

That’s an understatement. DIRECTV went from the absolute best customer service to absolute shite in a manner of weeks.

ATT is the epitome of a company that has some good products but is now oversized, too bureaucratic and too bloated to properly service all of it.

DirecTV, Uverse, a good wireless network and fast fiber are all good products held back by a massive, lumbering, stupid company.

AT&T could be used as a collegiate specimen for everything that’s wrong with campaign finance. They’re a utility that provides an inferior product to most of their customers and still get plenty of govt cash.

They have 13 lobbyists on their report to the State ethics website. Start calling out legislators that take their money.

So what I’m getting from what you typed. Is the first visit a wire tech (low experience tech came wind wasn’t blowing your service was testing ok and he left. Now to explain this to you properly you need to know Thames’s techs do not have the equipment to text copper cable pairs nor fiber pairs and they are not allowed to go into the cable. They are only allowed to work form the pole that directly connect to your house or business and thats it.

If that technician is experienced and able to see a problem they still can’t do shite about it because of agreements between union and company. (Yes it’s fricked up that a capable person who has the knowledge to do the job isn’t allowed to but that’s with the company wanting cheap labor in lieu of quality labor). I’m not defending AT&T as a company and yes there are some lazy shitty technicians but that the case with every company and industry. I’m telling you those lazy frickers that don’t do right do get ear full of shite talk when we had to go behind shite work and get lit up by a customer. It’s upper management and union company shite deals that’s your real problem. You’re just not in the weeds to see it.

I would say you have a good point with this, and I have (in the far too distant past, unfortunately) dealt with a few good AT&T employees. However, I've had the same, recurring problems with every single service or product and every single individual from that company I have had the unfortunate hassle of dealing with. That's been the case for a decade or more now.

Hell, I once had a sales rep who was dealing with me about a phone. I had AT&T wireless service in my name and the tv/internet was in the name of the girl I was living with at the time. Two different accounts in two different names. The brain trust I was dealing with in regards to the cell phone somehow managed to completely change our internet and tv package. I didn't know it until I got my next bill and it was $100+ more. I called and they credited the account and supposedly fixed the problem. The next month's bill was the same, $100+ higher than usual.

I called and talked to 4 people who could barely speak English before I got to a guy out of Kansas who could actually do something. He told me that he had no idea how the girl did what she did. He said even if he wanted to do it, he had no idea how to go about it.

Two hours later, including 30+ minutes with him and having to convince him that I didn't want DirecTV and wanted to keep Uverse TV he got my bill under what I was paying originally with another year of the promo rate.

All of that should have never happened. Hell, it was deemed nearly impossible by the guy who fixed it.

It is that level of incompetence, coupled with what seems like company-wide indifference to the customer that is paying increasingly more every year to be fricked over, that makes me hate every single thing about that useless company.

And believe me, if I had another option for internet where I am, I'd leave AT&T in a heartbeat.

Yep. I saw it happen in real time. They were the Chick Fil A of a media company. Great product, great company, great service. Their team was amazing to work with

AT&T bought most of them out and the rest said I’m out once they saw the shitshow at AT&T

Former AT&T Management here. You're speaking in half truths at best. I worked for AT&T for almost a decade, and knew / interacted with employees in every department. I did all of my training / management training in Dallas, where you are now, and can tell you that what they teach and have taught is the real deal. Where they failed, was letting old Bellsouth employee's say "f that" and refuse to grow and adapt to new methodologies. I've taken it out of the company and have had tremendous success with it. The problem is unionized employees that think they have the God-given right to make 100% of their sons football practices instead of helping the company, even once, take care of a large wait list of customers that are out of service and the companies never dying quest to cut costs.

The company is far from perfect, but lets not act like the entitled culture of the employees and many, MANY level 1 managers isn't also a problem. I'll never understand how 2008 made the automotive industry wake up but not the communications industry. The company is locked in to ridiculous contracts with its union and has no choice but to cut everything else.. and this is coming from someone who isn't the companies biggest fan. Even in Louisiana, they are having to abide by Chicago / Detroit like union demands.

So you either live in an apartment complex that sold its soul to AT&T and fricked their residents out of a choice or you live in a very rural area. The rural areas have long been the bane of AT&T higher ups for quite sometime and the cable in rural areas have been seriously neglected as a result.

Alright, when do the ATT service tech TikTok videos start dropping?

F AT&T. Cut all of my ties to them a few years ago, and it was one of the better decisions that I have ever made.

Too long to go into with my past experiences with AT&T. They are literally the absolute worst company on planet Earth. They cannot do one fricking thing right.

My AT & T WIFI went down once and couldnt get any help remotely.

They sent a "tech". College aged son at home while I'm at work and he let's the "tech" in at 10am.

Called son at 11am to check on things...no change.

Son calls me at noon to say no change and the "tech" is on the sofa talking on the phone.

#2 son gets home from high school at 3 pm and the "tech" is on the sofa playing Candy Crush.

I get home at 5:30pm and the "tech" is still farting around on his phone with no improvement in our service.

I asked him what the frick has he been doing since 10 am this morning?

He says, "I usually work on the trench digging crew, but they promoted me yesterday."

His polo shirt had AT&T on the left and...

Communications Workers of America
Local IDGAF on the right.

DirecTV was really fantastic in the early 2000s; I was happy to always sign up for the service whenever we moved. They would offer discounts if something was screwed up and would also occasionally reward for loyalty.

Once AT&T bought them out, the service has sucked and the price keeps bouncing higher. You've got to pay for a service package monthly to avoid a large repair bill. Screw that. I've been on the fence about getting something different but just haven't taken the time to look.

AT&T is nothing more than a monopoly for lots of people, myself included. What ever happened with the breakup years ago is nothing more than a memory.
