They are laying the groundwork for extended lockdown and/or vax passports, and/or everyone gets vaxxed to open it back up to vax doesn't even matter stay masked.

At first, I thought opening back up would be a simple conclusion, yet at every chance, from local to the fed gov, all forms of gov are reluctant to release power.

So literally what most people have been saying for the last year. Unfortunately this will be yearly, and new varients from time to time. So time to open up, and treat it like a more transmittable pneumonia.

Hell, this is what the "experts" where saying when the vaccine first came out. There were discussions of needing to update your vaccine on an annual basis; which caused a lot of well then what's the point questions.

How many times do the experts have to be wrong before we can stop calling them experts?

Right, once the majority of folks in the US are vaccinated, it becomes like the flu.

Herd immunity has always been a goal, and a “stretch goal” at that, not a prediction. Human behavior is one of the most important factors in assessing and predicting public health situations. It makes sense that assessments and forecasts will change based on that. As we now see vaccine acceptance beginning to level off (and even drop in some areas), not surprising to see chances of achieving herd immunity drop accordingly.

This is certifiably false. There are large swaths of the country with no virus-related restrictions.

50-60% likely is herd immunity. And we are pretty darn close in the states that have their shite together - like Louisiana for instance.

At what point can we stop calling these idiots "experts"?

How are they experts
?

That's an important question that the media doesn't like to answer. They'll bring on "Dr. Davidson" but fail to mention that his doctorate was an honorary degree from the University of Phoenix.

Or, they'll bring on Black Science Man, Neil deGrasse Tyson, who "By his own account, he did not spend as much time in the research lab as he should have. His professors encouraged him to consider alternative careers", which is a nice way of saying he didn't have the intellect to be a scientist. He's from the Bronx, you can't even see the stars in NY, NY. But, he's the NASA spokesperson now.

Expertise in general is a way to discount the educated opinion of others. It is to say that your information has not "been approved" by the State or other governing body.

Viruses

Coronaviruses are a group of viruses known for causing the common cold. They have a halo or crown-like (corona) appearance when viewed under an electron microscope.
The common cold is an infection of the upper respiratory tract which can be caused by many different viruses. The most commonly implicated is a rhinovirus (30–80%), a type of picornavirus with 99 known serotypes.[30] Other commonly implicated viruses include human coronaviruses (˜ 15%),[31][32] influenza viruses (10–15%),[33][34][35] adenoviruses (5%),[33] human respiratory syncytial virus (orthopneumovirus), enteroviruses other than rhinoviruses, human parainfluenza viruses, and human metapneumovirus.[36] Frequently more than one virus is present.[37] In total, more than 200 viral types are associated with colds.[4]

Prior to COVID-19:
quote:

A novel coronavirus SARS coronavirus was identified to be a causative agent for SARS. Since its discovery, many trials have been executed to establish the prophylactic and therapeutics toward SARS using laboratory animals. A number of different types of vaccines, such as inactivated virus vaccine, subunit vaccine, DNA vaccine and vaccine using viral expression vector as well as attenuated live vaccine so far reported indicate that neutralizing antibodies play an important role for protection. However, vaccine applicable to humans with the high efficacy and safety has not yet been reported.

Look around and see how many young people are still wearing masks. It's nonsensical.

I saw a kid at Mass yesterday trying to get his grandpa to put on a mask which the grandpa obviously didn't want to wear. Thanks JBE.

So, the flu?

Like covid 19 was a really potent flu strain?

Like let’s end western civilization over a really potent flu strain?
