“Widely circulating coronavirus variants and persistent hesitancy about vaccines will keep the goal out of reach. The virus is here to stay, but vaccinating the most vulnerable may be enough to restore normalcy.”

“Instead, they are coming to the conclusion that rather than making a long-promised exit, the virus will most likely become a manageable threat that will continue to circulate in the United States for years to come, still causing hospitalizations and deaths but in much smaller numbers.”

So as we have been saying, people should either choose to get their shots or not and let’s fully reopen

Exactly. They wore their welcome out long ago.

Forget moving of the goalposts, just get rid of them altogether.

Vaccine has been out for many months and the most vulnerable have had plenty of chances to get their vaccines. Open 'er back up.

A.K.A. Herd Immunity. These people are dumb. No one expects the virus to disappear completely. Pretending like that was the standard is a blatant lie. Pfizer just wanting to make sure they get their money.

How are they experts if they didn't know shite 3 months ago?
I laugh every time I hear or see someone called an expert.
An "expert" ANYTHING will always say something that aids the company that writes his check...period

Once you learn this, your own life will flow better

“Experts” have been dead wrong on several fronts since the start of this mess. It’s almost as if placing “Experts” means something other than is defined.

this has always been the most plausible outcome

the idea that we would ever eradicate COVID was, and always will be, a fairytale

Doubtful.

The most likely scenario has always been that it eventually becomes just another seasonal respiratory virus (yes like the flu and others) that we just deal with, either with vaccines or treatments.

So literally what most people have been saying for the last year. Unfortunately this will be yearly, and new varients from time to time. So time to open up, and treat it like a more transmittable pneumonia.
