Herd immunity through vaccinations has been talked about from very early on in this pandemic. I've seen varying percentages on how many people need to be vaccinated to reach that, but it's been part of the discussion all along.

And this is the board that advocated reaching herd immunity by just letting the virus run its course.

I, and others, have been downvoted so many times for saying basically what the experts are now saying. And we've been saying it for the past year.

I thought this was already confirmed?. By about 6 months in and we was still dealing with this thing, I knew this wouldn't be something that would ever truly go away. We'd just get better at treating it.

If you're vulnerable, and you choose not to get the vaccine. Well that's your personal decision. If you think you're not vulnerable, but Covid still kicks your unvaccinated arse, then that is your personal decision.

People have had the opportunity to get the vaccine. No use trying to protect people who don't care to protect themselves. We can give it another month to let everyone get their 2nd does. But after that, lift all restrictions. All of them. Even mask mandates. If someone choose to wear masks still, then that is their right..

I'm ready to go to football games and concerts! Full capacity.

Called it from the get-go. That zoonotic jump was something we knew wouldn't be a one time thing.

You know some dem shithole states are going to have mask mandates every winter to “prevent” the flu and to “prevent” China virus from coming back.

Then it's up to the voters to remove their emergency powers and pressure the state congress to outlaw mask mandates.

So like the seasonal flu? Covid has pretty much replaced the flu because influenza has essentially disappeared over the past year.

Because that's not entirely how vaccines work. For a vaccine to reach full effectiveness, a certain percentage of people have to get the vaccine, otherwise it will always have hosts. And as long as there are hosts, you are still at risk of contracting it even with a vaccine. That vaccine does greatly reduce the severity of it if you do catch it.

We've all but eliminated chicken pox with vaccines because enough children have been vaccinated, along with older people that had chicken pox as a kid.

No fricking shite.

Quarantining the most vulnerable a year ago would've also restored normalcy you fricking twats.

Not really. Several nationally "respected" epidemiological experts like Peter Hotez out of Houston, advocate for jettisoning the term and have refused to use it. He argues that it minimizes the value of human life. And now you have Fauci trying to shift the conversation, per this article. Simply using the term will induce shrieks and wails from the Left. We can't have any light at the end of the tunnel or any targets to strive for, and need to prolong the purgatory indefinitely.

Not sure how that refutes my point. While there were some instances like you mention, there were plenty of others that were talking about it.

So.... the flu.

Glad that was cleared up...... a year ago.

This. Last time I checked there is a new flu shot every season that more or less covers the various strains of flu for a given season.

Look around and see how many young people are still wearing masks. It's nonsensical.

Vaccine seems to be working very well, and covid is no where near as rampant as it once was. These "experts" suck

The term became pejorative as the cultists of the Left could not bear to think of a non-dystopian COVID world, and the esteemed "experts" banned it from the acceptable discourse.

I'm not talking about dying. I'm just talking about getting sick. Getting sick is not fun.
