re: Sen. Cassidy Claims Trump Won’t Be GOP Nominee - FtHuntTiger
To be honest, most LA Republicans above a certain age are likely to be former Democrats. At one time not so long ago (at least in my lifetime) it was the most viable political option. The split was more conservative Dem vs liberal Dem than it was Dem vs GOP....

re: What’s with all the energy talk? - FtHuntTiger
Federal law includes a specific exemption from environmental regulations to allow power plants to run during emergencies. That's not the problem. The bigger problem is how Texas designed their electricity market by focusing more on achieving low spot market prices, and less on incentivizing in...

re: Tucker off the top rope on green energy - FtHuntTiger
Feds don’t regulate most of the TX grid, it’s independent of the rest of the country. In fact, it’s lack of connections to interstate markets may be a contributing factor here, i.e., lack of redundancy. ...

Combination of factors. Wind, gas and coal all constrained due to extreme cold (plus some gas diverted to heating). Also, an independent electricity market (largely isolated from the rest of the US grid) designed more for price, less for availability of extra capacity....

re: The Weather Channel: Cold Weather Doesn't Mean Climate Change Isn't Happening - FtHuntTiger
The argument is not that the climate is changing or becoming more extreme in any one particular direction, but that climate change increases volatility in all directions. Not taking a side, just trying to explain the argument as I understand it. ...

re: Capitol Police chief accuses House, Senate security officials of hindering efforts to call - FtHuntTiger
The PR debacle from the confrontations outside Lafayette Square last summer definitely had an effect on the security preparations for this week. It was clear that DoD, National Guard and other feds, and the DC mayor, all were hypersensitive about recreating similar optics. So they erred on the side...

I was young, but the 1960s were pretty divided. Bombings, assassinations, lots of protests and confrontations in the streets. Families and communities divided similar to now. ...
